    New acid free spray options

I posted back here http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/...ight=acid+free about the fact that Archival Mist and the Krylon Make It Acid Free sprays have been discontinued.

I've done a bit of googling and I've found two options, thought I'd post here as it may be useful for someone else.

The best product looks to be Bookkeeper deacidification spray. This is the cheapest I've found it - you need to add VAT and postage at cost to the price. Horribly expensive but you get more than three times as much in a can as you did for the standard bottle of archival mist...

http://www.framersequipment.co.uk/conservation.htm (scroll down to the bottom of the page, and it's the third product from the bottom).

This also comes in aerosol spray form but some users find that the propellant runs out before they've used the product.

Mary-Anne also posted a link for PTDA deacidification solution, which is cheap as chips given the huge volume it's sold in but highly toxic, meaning that the minimum delivery charge is £50 If you live near enough to a supplier they will sell it over the counter...

(there are other suppliers round the country if you google for the product).

If you're travelling to the US you can still buy Archival Mist and a US product called Wei-T'o on the big auction site but I haven't found a supplier that will ship to the UK.

Anyway, hope that's useful for someone!

Could also be worth asking a local painting restorer if they would be able to supply PTDA or something similar. I know our local restorers are always very helpful if I've needed advice.

The carrying back of something like that might be tricky. It would have to go in your packed luggage and depending on the contents might be prohibited. I know, for example, that you can't carry UnDu as it's a solvent, so I think you would really need to look in to it before you buy it expecting to carry it home!
