yes I have done it 3 times now, it runs fine on hubby's laptop with vista but my pc won't have it and I have xp. So far I haven't heard back from Aaron at inkscape, he asked for this:-

Start -> Control Panel -> Performance and Maintenance -> System
(System could come sooner if Control Panel is in classic view)
    Advanced tab
Environment Variables button at the bottom
System Variables list at the botton
scroll to PATH and click on it
    click edit button
select all of the Variable Value and ctrl+c to copy
    ctrl+v to paste into email

    and I got :-
    Panel;C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\TVNAVI~1
which I haven't got a clue what it means.

B* H* I would need to meditate for an hour before I worked through that seriously, just a few ideas.

When did you download it, could it be that you haven't got the new version?
Is there enought room on your hard drive?
    Could it be the drivers?
Do you get any error messages when you are installing?

As I said earlier, it runs until the end of the month so you have plenty of time.

Emma....Not sure what problem you encountered during the original install of Inkscape but most software uses the Temp directory to unzip/unpack files for installation and they are often left behind afterwards. If you have had a problem that corrupted a file during the 1st installation it may still be sitting in the Temp directory and is initiated with each installation to cause the same problem with subsequent installations.

You SHOULD also make sure that you are not running any other programs while trying to install software as that can cause conflicts. I know we probably all do it but some software can be messed up if you do.

What I would do if I were you is uninstall Inkscape through Control Panel/Add Remove Programs. Using the Windows Explorer search for the Inkscape Folder in the Program Files Directory and delete that too.

Following that I would use the Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Cleanup function to clear out any left behind files lurking in the Temp directory. Reboot your PC, then download a new stable version of Inkscape...mine is 0.46 running on XP, upgraded the other day from 0.45.

BTW....this latest version wouldn't install into the same directory as 0.45 even though I had unistalled using their 0.46 interface...so there must be files it leaves behind. Deleting the Inkscape folder in the Program Files solved the problem.

With ALL programs closed install Inkscape again and see if that resolves your issue. Failing that I would do a System Restore back to a date prior to the 1st problematic installation.

I didn't have any problems installing 0.46 Inkscape, my problem is while I'm using it, a box comes up say its not responding and is going to close. Its so annoyig, cos everthing I've tried to do is then lost. I've tried contacting them, but not sure if I've done it right cos I've never had a reply, any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Fuschia

I think this replay is for emmaege who is having problems installing the program.

I had the same problem as you but only the first couple of times I used it ?? now is working fine, so I assuming it was me that caused it, lets wait and see.

Good for you, nothing ventured nothing gained as they say.

Are you struggling with the machine or the software?
