Some Fonts adding odd spaces
I have a font which I have used for years in other applications (Loki Cola) and I have just used it in Sillhouette Studio and had some odd results.
I don't know how to upload a screen shot, so can you look here:

Its all to do with the letters that have long 'tails'.
When you type, some of the following letters appear at the end of the tail, and some not.
It seems to affect A, C, E K, L.. But oldly it depends on the next letter too, I guess whether it has a "tail" too. So "Ca" is fine.. But "Cb" or "Cd" or "Cl" not..
The odd thing is that when I encoutered this, I did "something" and fixed it.. And it was fine again, until I wrote new text and changed the font..
Today I tried again and at first the words were spaced as in my photo.. Then they joined up without me changing anything.. and then the space appeared again, so I don't know whats happening...
In Word, this DOES NOT happen, so it appears to be a Silhouette thing...
Any ideas?

Are these glyphs that you are trying to use and if so do you have Designer Edition if the software ?

This is just a font.. Its called "Loki Cola"... And yes, I have the designer edition
Its odd, as you type, it moves some of the letters out to join the tails.. But whats odd, is that sometimes this doesn't happen and I am not sure what I do to "fix" it..
Right now, I can't type the word "Clare" without it showing "C lare" and I am getting frustrated as yesterday I had it showing "Clare" breifly as it randomly fixed itself.. And now I can't get back to that state.
Even if I copy/paste out of another app, its still teh same.. The only option I have at the moment is to write it in another app and then screengrab it as an image and paste it, but its FAR from ideal.

PS. Yes, well almost. I actually have the Business Edition.. I am a very light user, but saw the upgrades for a really good price from the USA, so started looking at the Designer and then Designer+ but the incremental upgrades were really small (like £7 each), so I went all the way to the Business in one go.

But.. its not like this in Word for example.. AND.. I did somethign in SS which bought the C and l together (like word).. .And it was fine until I tried again where the gap re-appeared (I should have left it).
Yesturday when I was playing, I managed to close the gap again (not sure how).. But this time it didn't stick and went back to the gap again straight after.
Here is how it looks in Word:

Why is SS adding this space?

Fixed it.. The "Kerning" button fixes this!
Odd that I didn't change this yesterday and the gap was randomly appearing and disappearing.. But by toggling the Kerning setting it does exactly what I need...
So ignore this.. Thanks.

Just tried it in Illustrator and you have to change the kerning there too so a bit strange but pleased you got it sorted.

It adjusts the spacing between two letters

Annoyingly there are no numbers in the font.. I found a lot of these "free" fonts don't have numbers which is odd? Or is it?? Is there a reason that I am overlooking?

Yes it is strange but guess it’s just down to the designer especially if they are free.

you could always approach the designer and ask about numbers to match the font
