It took a lot of trial and error to get the settings correct so that it doesn't just stall the machine but as long as you use 2 blades in the way I described then it works great. I'm eagerly awaiting a fresh batch of veneer to see what i can do.

Just wondered if you cut them with the ordinary blade or the deep cut Brian

That was with the normal silhouette black blade. I don't think a deep cut blade will make a difference in this situation because if you try to cut much thicker than 0.6mm the machine will stall because of the resistance on the motors. Thankfully, all the wood veneers I have seen all seem to come in 0.6mm sheets.
I think the deep cut blade will only be of use for cutting soft & thick materials such as funky foam or polystyrene sheets.

Thanks for letting us know Brian
Would we be able to cut shrink plastic with ease on this machine do you think?

Hard to say without testing it, sorry. The problem with plastic is the density of it, wood is a lot softer than plastic, so once you get over 125 micron thick, plastic can become hard to get through.
If you would like me to test cut some for you I would be happy to do so.

Brian would I be able to use the deep cut blade in the Silhouette Cameo original machine.

Thanks Brian. If you get a moment, I think that would be useful to know

I emailed Silhouette America about this last night. They say the deep cut blade is just for the curio. I was hoping it would work with the cameo. x

I've been doing a bit more marquetry with the Curio, so thought I would share my latest work. For anyone thinking of trying a bit of marquetry: the Curio works very well but be advised that it is very advanced stuff (probably the trickest stuff I've done on the Silhouette machines), it takes a lot of trial and error, it also obviously helps if you have some woodworking skills but if you take your time and do multiple passes you can do some very cool stuff, like this below:
compass_rose.jpg
The design above is cut from oak, sycamore, teak and birds eye maple. I just need to glue this and varnish it, I'll share a pic once it is all done.

It's beautiful Brian well done to you. I know you're an expert but your pictures do give encouragement to all of us as to what can be done
