    mad CJ covers, punching holes?

Grr.. I covered an 8x8 pink pig book with paper, all looked neat until I punched the 20 or so holes in, it's not too bad, but the holes don't look very neat, the paper in the inside of the holes looks torn and a bit messy, the holes aren't neat and round. I hate it when it's not perfect Is it best to punch the holes into the paper before sticking it to the cardboard cover? But would still have to punch through cos of the bit of the paper overlapping on the inside of the cover (the bit folder over into the inside of the cover). Basically what I had was cardboard cover with the paper covering it, and on the inside of the cover was thin card, so the punch had to go through the thin card plus the paper, is there a neater way? I could punch the thin card which I stick on the inside of the cover before sticking, that might help?
Wah! Everyone elses always looks neater!
    Thanks..
    Ali

I usually do the holes then cover and cut the holes in the paper with a craft knife.

Thanks girls! I've just reailsed it's not neat because when I punch the paper it's going inwards and resting against the cardboard inside the holes instead of cutting out a neat circle, so it's not giving a neat cut, I need to re-do it and cut the holes before sticking it all down!

This is certainly the best option if you're going to make a lot of books - I've just bought an own brand mini drill (cheaper than a Dremmel!) in the sales and I've used it tons already I love it ! My Autumn Leaves 2005 calender has been drilled and put on a book ring and I made my first mini book with it yesterday - great fun !

Best scrapping tool I've bought for ages....

Ooh, DH has probably got a Dremel will go have a mungle.

Ali - I punch the holes after with the Instant Setter punch.

I always stick the paper/card to the book and then punch through with a MM setter on the largest size hole and a hammer. You do need a hard surface (I put my cutting mat directly on the kitchen floor) and then punching from both sides makes it neater
