i signed up for the Art Journal Caravan because I wanted to try digital and then print it out afterwards. There's loads of prompts and some great pages in the gallery. I have only just got Photoshop CS4 and still finding my way round it so learning loads and taking ages on each one!
There are my cover and first three from the prompts.

I also did an online course with Dina Wakley, Graffiti of my life and learned loads of techniques on that, especially using spray inks and different ways to use my acrylics. The pages are in an album on my blog but I haven't written on all of them yet.

If anyone can get to Dyan's classes I would go, she taught me loads about painting and different mediums and got me started with collage etc

OMG Jane - your pages are GORGEOUS!. I love how you have your photo in the paintbox and that diary page is

I understand the concept of digi - and i'm sure my hubby would be delighted for me to do digi - no more mess! But i'd miss the smooshing around with paints and gesso and bits of paper and the tactile dimension of my pages - do you not miss all that?

Is it possible that the digi elements could be used for a hybrid journal?

I also did the Dina Wakley 'Grafitti Your Life' - brilliant techniques although my binding ended up a bit naff (lessons to learn - dont use vintage papers - they dont take up to sewing!). I have just started another journal using the same techniques and Dina's trademark 'Lady' silhouette.

I keep saying i'll go do a class with Dyan - she's not a million miles away (about 2 hours on the train) but it's just finding the time. I'll have to wait now until the start of the holiday year as I've no more hols left at work.

Thanks for sharing your pages Jane - BTW Congratulationson your new Grandaughter, she is beautiful. (Opportunity for loads of scrapping pages I guess)

Thanks Chris, I would never give up actual materials, I love all of the mess and the unexpected results, far more exciting. I only started the digital because I was snowed in for a few days and all of my stuff was in my studio. I'll certainly print out some of the files to use in my 'real' journals.

I had problems with the sewing too, I pulled too tight and ripped the paper but after that I put sellotape down the middle of each page to strengthen it. I want to make another one but I would fold pages rather than make the signature strips, I didn't like them not matching up to my pages, they looked all disjointed.

Ditto - although mine was more to do with the sheet music I used original and rather brittle so it didn't withstand much tugging to make it tear - LOL - now why didn't i think of selotape? (makes sense now that your've mentioned it). Re the signatures - thats exactly what i've done this time round Jane - far too much phaffing about with the siggy strips and I haven't got the patience LOL.

Great to see your you've not given up the actual messy side. I hope you're going to continue to 'WOW' us with your pages throughout the caravan journey. Amazing pages so far.

Yes I did sign up for one, I didn't think it was worth the money. The videos are far too long, too much waffle and you have to search through loads of repeated stuff to get to the actual instruction. I didn't finish it because I just got fed up with wading through all of the video clips.
I had a friend when I was working my dog, he was a brilliant dog trainer and certainly knew his stuff but to gain one minute of good advice I had to listen to two hours of bullsh+ and in the end I just didn't have the will or the time. This course reminded me of him and the loooong hours spent trying to concentrate on the bits i needed to know.

Thanks Jane, I don't think I'll bother then, I don't mind having to listen to a "bit of waffle "but not loads of it. I'll have a look around for something else

Taking of Dina's gret online classes. We have the pleasure of Dina teaching 2 of her art journalling classes at AFTH in March - HERE

Bookings don't go live until tomorrow, so don't worry that it says out of stock.

    Dyan xx
