    Gift Ideas

    Advice please

I have lots of friends in the USA with children and want to make the kids something nice for Christmas but haven't a clue as to what?? I want to make something that is quick and easyish and also doesn't cost the earth. Ages range from baby upto about 12, male and female.
    Any ideas????

are you talking about just scrappy ideas or do you perhaps sew? taggie blankets are easy to sew for babies and can be made of scraps. Will you be posting them to US so would you want easy to post ideas too?

I don't know about the older children, but what about the Rudolph bags of glittery oats for the littler ones? IYKWIM? Obviously tell them to open them on Christmas Eve!

Or how about little paint cans - the littlest ones - decorate them and fill with sweeties or little toys. They could get heavy, but you could always fill them with mini marshmallows - pretend they're snowballs!!

You've got me thinking now!! I'm looking at a tin as I type!

For the babies you could fit a little teddy bear, bootees or dummies in. For the older girls two or three nail varnishes would fit, or lots of hair slides and scrunchies.

can you send food to the US? - i know you can't to Australia, but there are plenty of other non-foody things you can put in a paint can! paint for 1 apparently now thats a novel idea!!

    http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/c...ediaId=9300075

From 12th December, 2003 the US Government introduced new laws about sending food and drink in to the USA. Items containing manufactured food will not be accepted by Royal Mail or at your local Post Office™ without the relevant pre-notification details.

Before posting any food-stuffs to the USA you may need to complete an online form to pre-advise the US authorities of its arrival. After completing this form it should take about 15 minutes to receive your ‘prior notification reference number’ from the US Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) which needs to be included on the usual Customs form – click here for more Customs information

This applies to any manufactured food or drink for either humans or animals but does not apply to homemade or manufactured foods being sent as a personal gift to individual people in the USA but you should clearly indicate this on the Customs form that this the case. If you don’t do this your parcels or packets containing food or drink may be returned to you or even destroyed.

This move by the US Government is to help protect the USA from the possibility of a bio-terrorist attack via food items sent in to the country by post and applies to all countries around the world.

Find out more from the US Food and Drugs Administration website

It's the 250ml ones I'm talking about. They're approximately 3 inches high and 3 inches in diameter.

Sundrop has them here if you want a look.
