mod podge on photos...
I've created a canvas an after watching "tim" on qvc yesterday, he was suggesting "preserving" the canvas with a thin coat of e.g. mod podge.
My canvas has a photo on it. Will the photo survive mod-podging? Its a print from a picturemate, if that bears any relevance.
Thanks for your help.

Sprinkle a little happiness wherever you go
Hmmm - really not sure about that - wouldn't it make the colours run???? Perhaps you could try on a scrap of photo that you've trimmed off??? Or on one you're not so bothered about?

I have a feeling I remember that mod podge is not acid free, so use a copy of a photo, and like Hils said, test a bit first perhaps

There's special acid free version of Mod Podge: Paper Mod Podge, details here: http://www.plaidonline.com/apMP.asp
Not sure though if you can use that on a photograph? Could you use diamond glaze instead? Perhaps watered down a bit?

I am having this dilemma at the moment but having looked at the plaid website, there is an acid free MP called paper modge podge.
Artbase have this on their website as well as all the other varieties of MP.

Pootlin' along nicely thanks
Depends on your photos and how they were printed. Mod Pdge is waterbased and could lift the colour off some photos. I'd go with a spray fixative/preserver myself. You can get ones for acrylic paintings that are archival and not too expensive.

I'm not saying stupidity should be a capital offense. But we could take the safety labels off everything and let nature run its course.

Couldn't you just spread the sealer around the canvas, apart from the photograph. That shouldn't need sealing should it?
