paper bags for paper bag book

can someone please help me, i have seen wonderfull examples of paper bag books in the gallery but am a little bit confused by the bags availble, i thought you could only use the block bottomed brown bags, but have now seen requests in wish thread for coloured ones, are you able to make them using teh normal paper bags you might get if you buy a card in a card shop.
    thanks

dizzy i get my brown paper bags from e bay..they are nice size and thick..
soem of the sponsers sell coloured plain bags...pink, lilac etc but they are much smaller than the ones i use..
large envelopes work as well..the ones i use are from staples and they are about 12''x8..they make a book 6x8...have a look at the envelopes and make sure the flap is at the end..and a decent size when you fold it in half...
you can also ask burger king for some bags as their bags work perfectly..and they are free.

Saw some fabby looking paper bags in the Early Learning Centre yesterday - think they're meant as 'party bags' I'm not into paper bag books so didn't buy any but did think they looked as if they would work. Bight colours - red yellow green turquoise I think!
