    Size matters

I thought I’d start another chat thread … I am nothing if not determined … on size.

what is your preferred size and why?

I started scrapping in US letter size … similar to UK A4 as I bought my first stuff in America.
I moved to 12x12 but still kept the letter size and my absolute favourite was the US letter size albums but in Landscape orientation. I loved that and have many albums that format.

I have quite a few 8x8 albums and I do love me a themed mini book and I usually go for something like 8x6 or 7x5

at the start of 2021 I decided to use A4 for my daily pages but stick to 12x12 for the cats, holidays etc. I switched to A4 predominantly because of storage. It’s smaller, it’s cheaper and now I am used to it I love it.

    so what about everyone else

I started with Creative memories 12x12, and they did 8x10 too which I liked for smaller projects.
I have been scrapping mainly in 12x12, with a few gift albums in 8x8.

Any new albums will be A4. I have several 12x12 albums to complete so I will still be doing both sizes for quite a while

A big reason for moving to A4 was the price and availability of 12x12 albums, paying £20 for an empty album is just not cost efficient, I can buy very nice A4 albums and a bulk lot of quality A4 protectors for a fraction of the price.

I’ve been doing DGD’s first year album in A4 and I love it.

I rarely scrap in anything other than 12x12. I seem to need the space

    I'm a 12x12-er.
I have made the odd one in 8x8, and I've made a few mini-books too. I think I have an A4 JYC somewhere.
Alison, you make a very good point about the cost. I prefer the D-ring albums, and have bought up a fair few off Ama-whatsit when they are under £20. I have some snaplock-style ones which cost about £15, but although they are easier to use than the old-style post-bound ones (ugh!) I would still rather pay for a D-ring one for convenience. Do you decorate the covers of your A4 albums?

Im still in 12 x 12 but like the idea of A4. storage of the albums is my problm, and you can get a lot more into the 12x12s surely? the AC ones anyway. I am limiting myself to one a year. I wish i went back and looked at them more but I rarely do.

My A4 albums are ring binders and I buy the presentation ones so I can print an image for the front clear pocket and can make spine labels that slide in (They are really imaginative - they said 2022 Book 1, Book 2, Book 3 etc LOL)

Karen, how many LOs do you get into your A4 albums? Can you add more polypockets or do they come with a fixed number?

I buy empty folders and buy the pockets separately … I buy the thicker binders … will measure the spine in the morning but not much thinner than a d ring album. I get about 60 - 50 in … will count them tomorrow

    Here’s a pic of Evelyns A4 album.
There’s 20 pages in there now and room for many more

The spines on mine are 2.5" and I get 50 layouts in but my ages are quite lumpy with flair and lots of foam pads

Alison that is a pretty folder. Mine are just plain - that's lovely

Just measured my A4 binders, they are 3”, slightly bigger than the project life ones

aww yes, i love those. dont think ive seen anything like that here though, only the traditional ring binders which are much less deep.

Ive started doing a Travellers Notebook now, which measures 8cm by 21 per page. Someone said it was 10 points per double page, canyou confirm please? it might solve my space problems doing it like that a bit.
