That looks intriguing Maria. So, how does it work? Is the red at the bottom the oil and then water (blues) and a bit of loo roll twisted tight going from the oil, up through the water and then lit? Capillary action and all that? Do tell.

Shelia that garden is absolutely fabulous - I would love a low maintenance like that but its so pretty.
I love the colour too and I love those planters where you don't have to kneel.

It was well worth the wait.

I have the Helmer filing cabinets on wheels too - but they are the other side of the desk. I think we bough 5 but Nigel has three of them

Love the waterfalls and Maria what fabulous candles - so simple.

The covered thing on the patio is an egg chair. I'm too short to take the cover off but if Rick comes tomorrow I'll ask him to uncover it so I can take a photo. I'm so pleased with the garden now, I can't wait to get it all planted up. I've been to the garden centre this am and got some more compost so I can put my bulbs and peonies in tomorrow. If you look at the photo of the planters along the back, there is a piece of timber in between the planters. I've got 3 planters altogether and the wood between them are seats. Susie the fence paint is Ronseal Forest Green, and I really love it.
Here is a photo of my herb planter which is just down the steps from my kitchen
    herb planter.jpg
I painted this and I wanted it a different colour to the fences

aww super idea to have a herb planter and I am looking forward to seeing what an egg chair is.

Yia, no, half the glass is water with a drop of food colour, then you put 1cm veg oil on the top which floats, then for the red, thats grenadine syrup which is heavier so you put that on next and it drops to the bottom (to my enormous surprise, comes in all colours). The twisted loo roll wick is only about 1 cm and it goes into a hole on the little floaty disc thing (thats the bit he was selling at the craft fair) and it has like channels in it and the oil gets drawn along them to the wick. He said it will last 5 or 6 hours and you can just add more oil, and also can make it scented by adding aromatherapy oil. He had some great ideas (a drop of milk to make opaque white etc, though he said that would 'turn' by the end of the evening) and a lovely one he did with some sand in the bottom and sea shells. I shall be experimenting. You can wash and resuse the plastic discs. Im blimmin exstatci with them i can tell you, so many possibilities

Love the colour of those candles Maria. I wonder if fragranced oil would work as well!

Sheila, I love, love your garden. The planters are a brilliant idea. Great trellis behind as well.
You could have a variety of climbing plants growing up that.
Love the arch with the planters as well.
Good that the hard surfaces are easily maintained also.
Your gardener deserves a big pat on the back.
I see that you have Paul’s heart stained glass their too. It’s all lovely.

Sheila, I'm another fan of your garden. How fantastic is that? You've come up with a brilliant design and those gardeners have done a great job to bring it to life.

Maria, those candles are very intriguing, I've never seen anything like them! There was nothing that exciting at my craft fair, not even close. Pretty much all I came home with was card blanks, adhesive, some inks and some stencils.

Elaine, sorry, I'm way behind, but I love your waterfall pictures.

Thanks for that Sheila, can't wait to see all your troughs filled with plants and full of colour.

The Helmer are a better size for underneath the desk, lots to think about.

Wow Sheila, the garden looks fantastic, I bet you can’t wait to see it full of plants next year. Love the colour of the herb planter. Great job all round.

Maria, the cocktail glass candles are very effective, not sure they’d be safe in our house though

Susie, all this organisation talk has got me inspired to attack my craft room. I’ve been sorting today and have ordered two organisers for my desktop. I do like to have stuff close to hand and see what I’ve got so we’ll see how that works out . I want some more drawers too ! Your table is perfect.

I’m way behind too Margo, will have to go read back again….

I have shown Nigel the photos Shelia and we might try to make some planters ..you inspired us

Not parallel lines or rocks or mosaic but wanted to share because I think he is very clever. It’s no secret I love Autumn and The Big Cat sanctuary so this was my surprise pumpkin this evening …he did amazingly.

Wow, that is so clever Karen and it is a lovely excuse to dress up the fireplace in these dreary months before Christmas.

It seems we are all enabling each other at the moment.

Well I never knew this little corner of the world existed! I will have to see what I can do to contribute...though you all have such great ideas! I will be on the look out for parallel lines and rocks all day now!

Too much on here to mention all of you but love the garden Barbara, it will certainly be eye catching when the flowers are in bloom but also looks low maintanence which is ideal.

I will go back and trawl through this thread properly for more ideas.
