That's awful Karen, hope the cats are both okay. Blackie or whatever it's name is eats Felix ocean feasts so I take it he's safe for now at least. Do they know which ingredient is responsible? Are all the foods from the same manufacturer? I know a lot of brands all come under the same umbrella so to speak. Devastating for the cat owners whose pets have died. We'll keep everything crossed that yours are both okay.

Ellie, like you, I hadn't heard anything about it either. Yes, your DGS takes after you and that pinny was definitely made for him.

It is all so unknown at the moment. They think it is related to the food but they don’t know for sure. They would normally have a handful,of,cases a year nationally and it is well into three figures now and the only connection they have found so far is the food. The recalled foods were all made at Fold Hills ... a big factory which makes loads and loads of brands of pet food. Fold Hills won’t say which other brands they also make as they don’t want to cause panic ... understandable ... but I predict more might be affectEd and withdrawn.
The boys bloods have come back fine but it appears there is a delay and just because their bloods are fine now doesn’t mean they will continue to be fine. The vets aren’t able to give real advice as it s so new and everyone is in the dark. My vet said watch them carefully and take them in at the first sign of anything wrong. However if they show symptoms it’s usually too late. I will watch them carefully but don’t see myself relaxing for a fair few weeks.

I keep trying to tell myself they THINK it’s the food, it might not be, thousands of cats eat the food and it is hundreds that have died not thousands, not all who eat it have developed the disease, ours had it as an additional food having it overnight only. But all those things are not really convincing me to relax.

I am sure Sandra will have heard about it ... it’s all over every single cat group and forum and has been in the National news.

What a beautiful rose, Elaine. What a shame about the rain.

Yes those roses will perk up again Elaine. I was only saying to hubby yesterday I couldn't remember when we last had any rain at all and then it rained last night. By this morning it had all gone and was another beautiful day, I think there'll be a hosepipe ban they way we're going here.

Long may it last though and we need nice weather so we can have our neighbour's windows wide open. Why, do I hear you ask, well, that's because I married an idiot. So you know how I can't stand the smell of food cooking in general (an M.E. thing) but certain things such as toast sadly are dreadful. So hubby went next door to use the toaster and whilst he was in there he heard our portable door bell ring so he popped back to see who was at the door. Whilst he was away, for some reason the toaster went on fire and I mean really went on fire and melted part of the toaster. So he got back to Alan's and the smoke alarm was going off and the alert box was ringing with someone asking if we needed the fire brigade. Hubby explained what had happened and they asked him to open all the windows and doors to get rid of the smoke so the alarm would stop. Then they said to him,"Are you sure you're okay?" His reply was "I won't be when my wife finds out what I've done." Mr. Pastry strikes again ladies.

Ellie, I was telling hubby about your lovely relaxing trip and those great photo's and how I'd like to do just that. Maybe a little trip across the Pennines or into Wales or basically anywhere. Instead we were house clearing, a pile of stuff is going tomorrow all to the tip though but we'll be glad to see the back of it.

I then have boxes and boxes of photo's to go through, some very old, some more recent and I'm still finding letters between our neighbour and his mum from years ago. I need to keep those for his brother to look through. Everything of size has a post-it note on it now, where it is going hopefully.

Love the Father's Day cards too Ellie. My nephew cracked up when he saw the one I'd made of Isabella covered in spag bol. It was a Happy First Father's Day card and underneath I just put "You're Doing A Great Job!"

I took some photo's earlier on my phone so must get them onto here, more summer flowers I'm afraid.

Oh my gosh... what is he like? so he didn’t get his toast after all.
Poor Jeff, it could only happen to him. Hope you get rid of the smell.
Glad that you have got somethings to go to the tip, that will be one job done. You are getting there.

Yes thanks we did have a lovely day.. I’m sure you would love it up there.
It was so quiet and the air was so fresh. You should go on a trip when all
Alan’s things are done and dusted, you deserve it

It’s so lovely to see you out and about Ellie. Fab photos..you both matched the car too! Loved the Fathers Day cards, especially the tool box one. I must take a photo of the one DS2 sent..similar vein!
We’ve had two months rain in two days here Susie..the field at the back of us is under water! That rose is a single flowerer so it won’t flower again this year! Such a shame. My peonies have gone brown too..this weather is one extreme to the other.
I dare hardly comment on Mr Pastry! Lol. Poor Jeff..at least he knew he’d been foolish and was waiting to get told off
Well, while DS was here earlier I had a twinge in my back and it caught my breath causing him to ask what the matter was…I said it was nothing, then it happened again..I still thought it was just a twinge but tonight I have go e into full spasm mode! I can barely move. Now all dosed up and in bed but I have a feeling it will be a fitful night.

Omg what are you ! like? You should write a book about your (mis) adventures!!!

Elaine, hope you feel better tomorrow.

My nice quiet day didn't quite work out, tomorrow I now have a big pile of ironing and you all know how I love that - NOT!!!
We just watched the last part of Time. One of the very best dramas we have seen in years - on so many levels.

    Night night all.
