Yes, this was the end of UKS - it just died - and this makes me incredibly sad.

I have made some wonderful, lifelong friends via UKS - and some of them are my closest friends. A forum that was before FB and was very active. I started chatting with a complete bunch of strangers, who supported me with my new found hobby and a young family and I still talk to many of them now, and regularly - I will point them in this direction and see if any will pop back. I would hate UKS to close because this is where it started for me.

It certainly isn't user friendly as it was in the 'good ole days' - and I still get a bit lost now - I don't think the social groups worked. I feel guilty for not commenting on the threads and the gallery for a challenge that I might have set - I sometimes post the challenge in the gallery and then forget to link it to the thread - its just too many steps sometimes, and often I am on my phone and its not user friendly on the phone - but then that could be just me

...and then COVID-19 hit - for some, it meant scrapping increased, for others their needs/crafting took a different direction - and they made PPE, scrubs and now masks and me...my life completely changed. I work in the NHS - and not only did things change when COVID-19 hit us - I also got a job promotion and increased my hours slightly. I am a Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist and have been heavily involved in the COVID-19 testing and the antibody testing. I have an autistic son who finished school very early in March, as he was at a SEN school and they closed early. A hubby and elder son who were both furloughed and I carried on working. We, like most families are returning to some normality, but Sam never returned to school and had to start college and its been a bit tricky. I also have elderly parents who are all scared of the current situation and are struggling (as are many) with the restrictions...and then to top it all my best friend lost her husband suddenly - so scrapping has stopped!

However it will return - I don't know when, as after Christmas I'll be packing up the craft room as we are having building work done - but this will create a new craft room for me! I'm sorry I cannot be more help - but I will return, I know my lovely friend Sue won't let me disappear.

Sending much love to you all and thank you to all the members and especially Mary-Anne, Karen and Sue for all their hard work
Like Sarah, I have made some of my closest friends on UKS and in very regular contact with a group for years.
I was a team member but as chatter and team interaction dwindled I drifted away. I am an active scrapper and would be happy to join a team with people I feel a connection to and would even consider being a team leader. I actively take part in FB challenges, both personal teams and sponsor/business type challenges. I also follow many scrappers on Instagram. Inspiration is widely available on Instagram so UKS may need to find an uniqueness to breathe fresh air into it for longevity .

I was always very appreciative of MaryAnne for her personal commitment to UKS and that of the moderators as I appreciate its time demanding.

For info - these are the groundrules for the Facebook group ...

To use this group page you need to
    - be a member of UK Scrappers
    https://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/index.php
    - include your UKS username in your posts
    - be kind and polite
    - post 'chat' in the designated chat post; posts on the wall will be removed
    - share your scrapbook pages, cards, etc in the UK gallery not on this group
    https://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/photopost/index.php
    - only post business ads if you are a UK Scrappers sponsor

I'm sure this probably won't be very easy to implement as I would imagine it would need to be a feature built into the forum software, but it would be helpful if the site was also mobile friendly. Many sites are dynamic and change to suit the device you are using and it would probably help people use the site a bit more if they could just pop on while on their mobile phone as I know myself going on the computer doesn't happen as much as I'd like lol

If you go down to the very bottom and click the drop down menu that says DEFAULT STYLE and select MOBILE, does that work? Is it better on your phone?

The mobile one doesn't work and reverts back to the full site. I just tried the "iPhone" one on my android and while a bit glitchy with some text overlapping, seems to be a bit better so thank you 😊

Opening the FB group up more and inviting those on our FB friends lists, has definately caused a lot of us to revisit, hopefully to stay

Off to look round the boards and reminisce before anything gets deleted, although I think it's probable that most from when I was originally here has already gone.

I know that it costs a lot for UKS to continue each year and the sponsors are vital to obtaining the funding for this. As an ex-sponsor I speak from personal experience that having people thank you goes a long way to helping them to stay, this includes using them to get your supplies as without that they will not survive.

Over the years most of my scrapbooking stuff has gone to the back of the cupboard, but I feel the urge to have a sort out and see what I can find
