What a month, becuse of continued lockdowns and Tier restrictions, I have just had to make up 30 individually wrapped kits to make a christmas card for each of my Girl Guides to make - which I now need to deliver to them and we will have a making session via zoom! I bought up card toppers on sale and lots of low cost xmas papers etc and raided my own stash, it took far longer to make kits and bag them than make the cards! Not sure if they will count for points, but thought I would share. Quite a few of the kits match the silver and blue of this month's challenge

Such a lovely idea Claire, I'm sure you'll all have lots of fun.

Elaine, what a gorgeous selection of cards, each one is just lovely and so different. I love your little spray of yellow flowers too.

Good evening all, the final prompt in the 2020 card challenge goes live tomorrow morning.

Hard to believe that's 12 months of prompts done and dusted.

I'm sorry I've not been around at all this year. I don't often have chance during the day to check in on the site and then once my work day is over I usually switch off my PC and switch off in general.

I must confess cardmaking has taken a bit of a back seat for me since March or so and although I've managed to keep making a Christmas card a week (more or less) during 2020 and still avidly keep up with cardmaking in the wider world, the creative mojo for making cards on an evening/weekends has definitely come and gone at times in 2020.

Like many people this year, my creative energy has been zapped (although my stash buying habits have been largely unaffected ) and cardmaking has not been the escape it once was. My craft desk is also my work desk, and being at home almost constantly this year apart from the weekly supermarket shopping trips has made it even more necessary for me to escape to another space in the house to regain some work/home life balance.

I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that I just need to have a more laid back attitude to these periods of time when I'm not feeling it for one hobby, but can stay creative with another. This time last year I rekindled my interest in cross stitching when I came across some lovely designs on Instagram, well that all snowballed over lockdown and I found myself stitching in the conservatory/lounge most days between work projects while listening to audiobooks. The stitching bug has remained and I have a few projects in the pipeline I plan to work on. It's been great for mindfulness, I think mostly because I'm just following a pattern and not thinking much beyond that and that just helps my mind relax better. And there's also a sense of accomplishment too. In 2020 I have finished 4 cross stitch projects (2 of which were stitch alongs) - back when I tried cross stitch for the first time in 2001 or so I only managed to complete one full project before I discovered cardmaking. So I'm glad I am no longer a serial project starter and have it in me to complete projects too!

So my crafty goals for 20201 are simply to keep enjoying being creative, and if that means taking a bit of a break from card projects now and again so be it. Let's face it, these supplies will all be here when I need them and want to play. In the meantime I'm still keeping up with my countdown to christmas card schedule and still making cards for the daring cardmakers blog when I can.

I'm still planning to continue the card challenge in 2021 and hope it's something you still enjoy.

Once the other things on my mental to do list for early December are out of the way I hope to sit down and have a think about next year's prompts.

I fully understand all you've said above Nat, just for different reasons. I find in the evening I will sit and knit for a while as the concentration takes my mind away from everything else. I have a almost as shop full of scrapping and card making stash and hopefully will get back into it properly next year after I've sorted everything else out - God willing.

I look forward to the card prompts even if I have been pretty useless especially this year at joining in but I love to see what everyone else is making.

I did laugh when you said 'my creative energy has been zapped (although my stash buying habits have been largely unaffected)' - I think we are all a bit like that.

It's been a strange year in so many ways, let's hope for some improvement in 2021 but in the meantime I'm looking forward to tomorrow's prompts.

Nat..we all hear you..and I am so delighted you will carry on the prompts, even if you can’t yet join in yourself.
In the meantime, be kind to yourself and enjoy your ‘me time’ when you can in whatever crafty form that takes your fancy.
Thank you so much for providing so much inspiration for others while you are taking a card making ‘holiday’. We look forward to seeing your marvellous creations once you are feeling it again.
