Converting PNG/GIF files to Cutting Files

Good morning all. I may be having a senior moment (or day!) but is it possible to convert PNG and GIF files to cutting files?
    Grateful for any responses.

You can bring png and gif files in to studio Shirley and then you would need to trace them to get the cut lines

Thank you Shirley Anne. I've done that but it only gives me the outline shape whereas I want the individual sections cut. The GIF file is a picture with different blocks of colour which I should like to cut out in miri card or vinyl rather than just print the picture. Another image I could use is a PNG file but the same problem occurs. Perhaps it just isn't possible?

If you have Designer Edition or above you can use the trace by colour function which would do what you want Shirley.

Gosh, I've had Designer Edition for years but never realised that tracing by colour existed so many thanks for pointing that out Shirley Anne, I'm truly grateful. Now all I need is a tutorial so I'm off to Youtube. I'm constantly amazed by what this software can do and learning this new trick will extend my range of possibilities so thanks again.
