    Curio

Although I love my Portrait and Cameo, I would really like to add some texture to my makes like embossing. I have read about using an embossing tool or empty biro in the pen holder and use the sketch setting, but it is not that good. I thought I would try something under the card such as craft foam. Then I started to look at the Curio and just wondered if anyone forum member has one and would you recommend it for embossing on card stock.

Hope you all have a good and cooler crafting day.

I have Curio Eileen but I find the embossing effect not very deep although it varies depending on what type of card you are using - with pearlised/mirror card the effect is better . You don't get as good an effect as you would using a die cutting machine and embossing folders. Am attaching a very old photo as my Curio is a bit of an ornament these days although I do use it with the Foil Quill because I find the Curio's solid base gives a better result. As you can see in the photo the embossing is better on the blue pearl card rather than on the plain cardstock.

I had one when they first came out Eileen, specifically for the embossing function but I was very disappointed with the results. The debossing came out better than the embossing but not that much better and I was so disappointed with it I sold it. Sorry to be so negative.

Thank you all for your responses, I think you have answered my question, I will not waste my money on a Curio. Thank you Shirley for showing your card and I can see what you mean regarding the embossing on mirror card it looks good.

I will continue playing to try and make some sort of embossing cutting file to put through an embossing machine.

Eileen I found that does work better making a stencil to use in a die cutter/embossing machine than embossing with my Curio. Like Shirley, Sylvia and Doreen's Curio embossing was disappointing to me too. The Curio does etch very well on coloured metal. I did buy another electronic cutting machine because it embossed, but that is no better either.
