    Starting over again....Old GRA/GSD files

I am looking at buying a new cameo 4 after having had a Craft Robo which has been unused and sat in a box for about 4 years since we moved !
We had Design Master and Sil Studio on the old PC and i still have many GRA & GSD files.
I know I can use the GSD files but I cant remember what program used the GRA files or how I created them.

Can these be converted? Looking up on Google it seems to now be a MS Graph extension, but I presume it was to do with Graphtec/Craft Robo. So am i now unable to do anything with them in the Sil Studio?
I dont even know which edition of Studio i had so unsure if i will buy the latest edition or if I can find out from Silhouette which edition i had and upgrade.
    Thanks for any help!
I haven't lost my mind, its backed up on disk somewhere........

I'm pretty sure you can't open GRA files with Studio. I've never been able to because I never had the software they were created with. Have you tried using your CR with the free version of Studio to see if it still works or did you particularly want to buy a new machine?

There is a tutorial here https://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards...A-files-to-GSD on how to convert gra files to gsd but it is old so not sure if it still applies. The basic Silhouette Studio is still free and can be downloaded from https://www.silhouetteamerica.com/software. If you had purchased Designer Edition or above you will need your license key to get that back once you have installed the basic version on your PC. If you log in to your Silhouette account you should see any licence keys there. You will find the C4 very different to your CR !!

    Thanks for your reply.
Yes the tutorial is very old and I dont have Design Master anymore and cant find it online either, probably been superseded.

I have emailed Silhouette about my account and code as it must have been an old email address!
But ive downloaded Studio basic for now. I will prob just have to use my GSD files, but will keep exploring possibility of converting the GRA ones.
    Thanks.

Here is the answer I found in UKScrappers from Caroluk after I googled the question:
    https://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards...A-files-to-GSD

She attached a detailed .pdf file and screen shots on how to make the transition.
I have the original Craft Robo and never got any upgraded programs.
I hope you let us know how you get on with it.

Petrina according to the tutorial you still need Designmaster "I do all of my designing in Landscape but when converting a GRA to GSD using CutePDF Writer I
found it easier to have my design in Portrait mode, this helps to keep the DXF file slightly smaller in
Robomaster, this makes more sense later on.
So, arrange your items on the portrait signblank. Then, do the following in DesignMaster
    "
