I’m fine without the photos thanks Susie ! I’ve never been good at blood and gore and stuff, DH copes with most of that. Just found it a little off putting while eating

Shed Elaine? Does it have spiders in there? There could be gold in our shed and you wouldn't catch me in there
you can deal with all that with your dogs but a few spiders send you into a panic. Iíd be the complete opposite I can deal with little spiders but big unwell dog would make me run

I’m not bothered about spiders either. I was a bit freaked out by one giant
spider that clung to the car in the garage in Australia. DH was too, but he
dispatched it with a rolled up umbrella

Susie, the fire is going to be plain and simple with a 2inch black Granite slip
around it, and no the tiles aren’t going back. They have been there for about
28 yrs, so time for a change.
DH is going to make a mantle out of a big piece of wood he’s got.

Hope all your dogs are ok ladies.

So sorry your dog is poorly Elaine and that is exactly how I feel about our boy, can't lose him yet. Is diet alone enough to sort things out or is there medication to help as well? As for our old boy, we have to wait and see if he gets better in the next 5 days. That's how long everything will take if it is a bleed due to the Previcox tablets. We'll be watching him like a hawk. The only good thing is, in himself he is bright, still trying to steal food and has gained a Kilo which I was trying to get him to do by increasing his food slightly. I felt he was a little too light he was just below 70lbs now he is 72.6 so I might get a pound off him. It sounds silly but with deep chested breeds if they are too light they can have a bloat/torsion and at his age if it didn't kill him he'd have to be put to sleep. The operation is too much for an old dog to handle. That said, if he puts on any more weight it will put strain on his joints so it's a fine line.

Did you suspect something was wrong Elaine, which dog is it?

Mary, I have always been terrified of spiders, not so bad now but still hate them. It's not the little ones that bother me it is the big house spiders, yuck! That's not as bad as my neighbour who was scared of birds, imagine that! I found the first dead baby bird on the table in the garden today, that is one thing I hate and dread about this time of year. What a short little life.

Ellie, my niece has that sort of fireplace arrangement and it looks lovely, very effective.

Sorry for the timing Alison, I know what you mean. If we happen to be sitting with trays to eat and put the TV on and something gory comes on it can't go off quickly enough. At present it is trays every night as the dining table is covered with plants.

I'm not sure id like the spider they have in SA or OZ.. but our ones don't bother me. I will have to get all the stuff out of the second shed for my sister to sort as she is terrified of them!
Owning dogs is a fine line. The vet seems to think diet alone will help for now. I'm going to talk to her again today as I couldn't quite take it in yesterday. It is Bella, our largest dog, the sprollie. Here she is with Miss A when they were both a lot younger!
I hope you get to the bottom of the problem with yours Susie..and you do with Sebastian Denise.

I’m ok with spiders, although I wouldn’t rush to go and hold a big one !

Hope all the animals are feeling better soon. They are such a worry aren’t they, just like kids Yours are all lucky having such lovely caring owners x

This isn’t my photo, my cousin took it, but thought I’d share the beautiful textures. It’s Chihuly glass at Kew Gardens, we’re going next month, it looks amazing !

    Wow gorgeous glass Alison.
Yes I did Scrap it Denise and yes she is very gentle. In all the years we’ve had her she has never licked us or taken food from our hands.

Aww she does look gentle Elaine. Hope she improves with the new diet.
    Nice page as well.

Beautiful glass Alison. Are they replicating water Lilly?
I bet that they would look nice at night illuminated.

When you say it’s nippy Denise, what temp is it there now ?

I haven’t seen if the pieces are named Ellie, all his work is very organic looking, and usually very brightly coloured. I love it.
It does look fab in the dark too, we saw a piece lit up in Denver a couple of years ago.
Kew are doing some night time openings too so we’re going to book that for later in the year

Aw, lovely photo and LO Elaine. that’s probably the benefit of older dogs, DD’s puppy Daisy goes crazy every time she sees you, I couldn’t let the little ones lead her. She’s getting very big and strong now too! She has so much energy !!

I think it’s the breed Alison. DS2 has just got a new puppy and he’s only 6 months old and he’s really calm. DS1’s ‘puppy’ Louie is now 18 months old and is bonkers and like a whirling dervish..and he’s the only that lives with Miss A. Daisy is a retriever isn’t she..so that’s a working breed. Louie is half cocker and half springer. I don’t think he’s ever going to calm down, totally the wrong breed for them but they love him and would never part with him although they do find him very hard work.
This is the new family addition, Billy.. and there they both are! Mine are getting on now and are quite disdainful of the new young things. Lol

Quick reply before I forget, is Sebastian the one you are using propolis on Denise? I'd keep it up and if you can get the colloidal silver try that too. I use them together and they always work.

Fabulous photo and scrapbook LO and my how time flies Elaine. I know what you mean about the shock and not taking everything in. I usually go away and write a list and then it is like the Spanish Inquisition for our poor vet. I know milk thistle is great for the liver, my friend was on it when he had cancer and it had spread to his liver. He lasted 3 years after his diagnosis and was later told by the consultant that they thought he didn't have a chance of making it to 11 months. We take milk thistle every day, especially for me as the liver is affected by M.E. but then, what isn't. It's just a thought and may be something to look into further if you feel so inclined. It may help to mention it to your vet although some don't believe in trying alternative supplements. One of our vets actually produced his own range of alternative products for animals and he uses a lot of propolis too.

Those dogs looks so energetic Elaine. It's funny we have to cope with all of that when they are young and we wish they'd slow down a bit, but then when they start to slow down we wish we could have them back racing around again. Where did Billy come from, is he a rescue?

The glass at Kew is amazing Alison, I bet no photo, no matter how good it is can do it justice. Fantastic photo though, glad you shared it.

Just read back to the bit where you said how lovely and gentle Bella is and she really does look a sweetie. What made me laugh though was when you said she's never taken food from your hands, ours would just steal it right off your plate. Mind you, I blame the owners (not us of course). When we had Sophie we would give her treats and she never allowed her teeth or any part of her mouth to touch your fingers, she just gently took the treat no matter how tiny it was. She was a sweetie. All the thieves have been boy dogs and boy cats too now that I come to think of it. Si ate most of our neighbour's chicken they'd taken out of the oven to rest, it was for their Sunday lunch.
