    September Week 4

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

This week in 1580, Sir Francis Drake returned to England aboard the Golden Hinde as the first Englishman to circumnavigate the globe. To celebrate this we've chosen a sketch based challenge to create a layout using images of the sea and sky; include one circle to represent circumnavigating the globe; and use gold foil or colour to commemorate the Golden Hinde.

    Sketch: https://uk.pinterest.com/pin/566046246899333327/ by Laura Whitaker
or https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...b9e6df8f22.jpg if you have problems with pinterest

    points:
    Use sketch ~ 10 points
use sea / sky photos ~ 10 points
include one circle ~ 5 points
    include gold ~ 5 points

    September House Challenge

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

Its the Red Ribbons turn to set the monthly again. September the 1st was my daughters 1st birthday & as I love a theme I got kind of carried away with "Ava in One-derland" - think props, backdrops, food, all in Alice in wonderland style (of course).

So this month, we'd like you to make a layout influenced by Alice in Wonderland. Its potentially a huge topic for you to explore so I wont say anymore, I dont want to lead or direct your thought process any further. I cannot wait to see what ideas you come up with

    November week 1

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally it's November & I feel safe to drop the C-bomb, CHRISTMAS!!!!
Every year I buy a few pretty craft supplies to add to my Christmas collection, but once all my Christmas photos are scrapped this collection is put away for another 11 months. This has ended up with it being my largest collection of scrapbooking supplies. So this week we're going to make a little dent in it. I would like you to pull out your Christmas Stash & use it to make a NON-CHRISTMAS layout!!
You may use other items on your layout but I would like it to be predominately Christmas collection. & remember to let us know what Christmassy items you have used.

I have just come back from a wonderful remembrance service and so the challenge is to create a page with links to remembrance. I am aware the SLYMI reboot is to use remember but I have a few difference I n his challenge and no – you can’t use the same page for both I am afraid!

I have taken the colours from the poppies – I’d love to see you use poppies but you don’t have to.

Make you page either about the traditional meaning of remembrance, either about our armed forces, people who serve or about a family member (and pets are family members too) that you remember. 10 points

Use at least 2 photos on the page 10 points

Use red and black somewhere on the page 10 points

On this day in 1953 the British Natural History Museum Authorities at the British Natural History Museum announced that the "Piltdown Man" skull, one of the most famous fossil skulls in the world, is a hoax.

So for your challenge this week, make your page about something to do with nature; an animal, flowers, the outdoors, anything you like. Even a fossil if you have any photos of one. (10 points)
Use any colours but include beige or light brown (kraft) (fossil colour)(10 points)
And 3 of anything, photos, word title, embellishments (10points)

I am basing my challenge on 'Favourite things'

Firstly, for 10 points, I would like you to use your favourite scrapping colour combination...in my case, (despite differing opinions), my all time favourite colour combination is black, white and Kraft..but you may be inspired by other colours. Please say what it is in your description.

Next, for another 5 points, I would like you to be inspired by something from these lyrics of the song..'My Favourite Things' from the Sound of Music film.

'Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things
    When the dog bites
    When the bee stings
    When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad'

This is a guide for inspiration only...not a strict rule..so you can tell me how it inspired you. Of course, it can be favourite people, items, places etc..as long as it is a favourite.

Finally, for another 5 points I would like you to use some of your favourite embellishments..we all have them..things we are 'saving' for a rainy day! So I would like to see you include them here.. Please say what it is in your description.

So, of course, that adds up to 20 points...so, for the last 10 points please make sure you add a description to your gallery saying how the song inspired you, what was the favourite embellishment you used and, of course your favourite scrapping colours combination.

    December week 1

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was born on 3rd December 1947, and being very selfish, I'd like you to base your LO around that date, so, for 10 points each:-
Use a 3 word title; use 4 colours and 7 papers ..that includes backgrounds, mats etc; use a Winter theme .. anything that you associate with Winter.

    Summary
    1) use 3 word title
    2) use 4 colours and 7 papers
    3) Winter theme

    December week 2

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

A couple of weeks ago I received an unexpected telephone call from a London Broncos player (Rugby League team) to thank me for my support this year. I didn't have any photos obviously but wanted to create a page to remember this event so for 10 points create a LO without a photo. The title was obvious as it was a call from London!!! so for a further 10 points for your title use a song title and of course I didn't have enough of one alpha to do the title so for the last 10 points use at least 2 alphas/fonts on your LO.

    So to summarise

LO without a photo 1o points
    Song Title title 10 points
    2 or more alphas/fonts 10 points

    December week 3 and 4

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

Many people have said they don't scrap over the Christmas week as they have family and friends to spend time with and so we don't want anyone to feel they are missing out on points.
Therefore you have two weeks to complete this challenge and can claim it for December week 3
No-one will be able to claim points for December week 4 so you won't miss out if you are just enjoying all that this special season has to offer.

It is a very traditional challenge for this festive period.

    a. Scrap Christmas photos - yes photos ... there must be three on your page

    b. Use traditional Christmas colours. Now for me that means red and green but they might mean different for you - but they do need to be traditional - no modern Christmas combos

    c) Use three groups of three on your page. I used three groups of three circles on the page. You could use three groups of three enamnel dits or flowers or word strips etc.

    December house challenge

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

I thought this month we'd do a Recipe Challenge with a difference.
December to me is all about sharing, cold weather, love &, though I hate to admit it, food! So I'd like us to all share some inspiration of the foodie kind while scrapbooking.
Let me get to the point & make things a bit clearer. Go get your favourite Winter/Christmas recipe, this can be online, in a recipe book or even straight from your memory. THIS is your inspiration for your scrapbook page.
You could use the colours from the photo of the finished product, the layout the recipe is written in, if its got cherries in that could represent enamel dots, if its a yule log use a photo with trees in... are you getting the idea?

Remember to upload your layout to your House album by the end of December, tell us what inspiration you took, AND share your recipe with us, I'm excited to learn new ones.

Let me give you an example to try & make it clearer still

This is my favourite recipe for Christmas Eve, a Triple Chocolate Cheesecake. (click on the thumbnail to see a larger photo of it). From this I am taking inspiration from the stripes, The colours in the photo (blues, browns, creams, red & green), semi circles. I could use a large photo filling most of the top of the page & journalling below. I could use the layout of 3 columns. I dont need to use all of these ideas to complete the challenge, its just what comes to mind with an initial scan of the recipe.
