July 2015 Simple Recipes mood board

    Hi!
It's new Simple Recipes mood board time!

With the July mood board I've looked at mark making. It can be a fun way to create your own pattern and you can use lots of different things in your stash to do it from paints to pens to cut out paper. The video I've picked out looks at using brush markers to create brush lettering. If you have brush markers altready this could be a different way to look at them. The video shows Copic, Tombow and Wink of Stella brush pens being used. I did ask sponsors for links to these pens but didn't receive a response in time for today so I'll pop around the shops and have a look and update with some places to buy them. I for one watching the video want a glittery brush pen now!
One of the trends I've picked up on for you to have a look at too this month is mixed up patterned and/or coloured alphabets for titles. I've noticed it in quite a few upcoming collections. If you've got lots of patterned paper to use up it could be a fun way to make titles, cutting a different letter, (using dies or Silhouette or stamp and cut out or covered chipboard if you still have that in your stash!) per pattern and mixing them up.

Have lots of fun this month!

Depending on your connection the download may take a couple of minutes to complete.

I just got a Tombow ABT black pen this week and had a little play around with it.
It's quite fun to write with the brush end and it definitely makes a difference with the look of the writing, it does look like writing with an ink and brush but neater iykwim? The smaller end is really good for regular journaling too.
I hadn't realised that the glittery Wink of Stella pens were so difficult to get before I went looked for one, not got one of those yet!

Really liked the sketch this month, so pretty much stuck with it exactly as it was...

I pretty well stuck to it too, just rotated it. The colours matched those in the Like it Forever kit this month, so it came together very easily. I rotated the sketch, added more triangles and used the colour palette.

I didn't use the sketch, but used the colours and played with my pen, cheated and used sticker letters for the handwritten look title !
