Distress ink on the Gelli Plate

This is fun - I posted in the Gelli Plate Playground Social Group but thought I would add it here too -

The basic idea is that you need to press the surface of the DI pad to the plate rather than brayer it on. The ink stays wet for a long time, but so far as I can see there is no staining of the plate. Not all techniques work as well with ink as they do with paint, but even so you can get some interesting effects. This one is my fave.

Applied the pink, laid on a stencil, pulled that to clean off the open areas. Pressed on the teal with the stencil in place to fill those areas then pulled OFF the stencil to get a two-tone print.

I did have a go with a wetter DI ink pad and the pull was actually OK - the ink spreads and smooshes into the paper even tho' it appears to bead up on the plate. Give it a go

Overall it smoother than pressing on the ink pad (which I think gives a more interestng "texture" but it is still good. Just don't use a dry or very, very pale ink pad!
