Week Four Wednesday: Allowing for Words

***Week FIVE Wednesday. Sigh. I'm sorry! Can't edit the thread title.***

Do you collect sketches for future pages? When you look through them trying to find the right sketch for your next page, what do you look for? Today I challenge you to look for something in the design other than the number of photos! Further details can be found in the PDF.

If you have chosen another sketch or a layout to inspire your design, share it with us!

This was fun and instructive! I have more than 500 sketches in Evernote, tagged by number of photos and recently by technique or product. For my In Action photo I chose my son practicing baseball. With that subject I could easily use a sketch for 1 or 100 photos. So I decided to focus on the journaling.

I wanted a sketch that had bulleted or strip journaling, preferably with more than one photo. I filtered my sketches down to those with 1-5 photos (still over 300) and then flipped through all of them and narrowed it down to about a dozen. Now I have it narrowed down to 5 that will work and look fun to play with. I'll probably wait to see the next prompts to narrow it down further.

Designing a page is the hardest part of the process for me. So I rely heavily on sketches to keep it simple. This exercise suggests to me that I should set up tags for page elements other than just the number of photos. I love changing up my process. It always brings such new insight. Thanks for that!
