OSNNSSU - June Part 2 - OLD STASH!

    Hello everyone!

I hope that you were inspired to scrap your new stash last week with Cal's lovely SU layout

This week, I'm encouraging you to do the same with your old again! Grab those papers you stroke, or the ones you're unsure of - if one of these phrases applies:
"I've always meant to use those"
"I don't want to cover the pattern up"
"I haven't really enough of it to use on a layout but it's nice..."
... then it's the perfect paper!

As you've already seen the sketch, I'll jump right in to how I customised it for my layout. I initially wanted to make the longer vertical strips as one or more photographs, offering glimpses into the scene. However, as I take most of my cameras with my phone, the quality wasn't particularly great. I then moved onto patterned paper, as I felt colour blocks would be too strong, but the paper seemed too busy.

Then I had a brainwave - ACETATE! I have many 12x12 overlays left over from kits that I thought were too nice to use, or that I've bought and forgotten about. I reasoned that putting them all together on a white background would show them off nicely, whilst tying them all together and not overcrowding the page.
I laid it out, then cut them shorter and staggered them centrally, leaving white space all around so as to not overpower my picture and title.

I added some leftover journaling stickers that were the last on the sheet, to make a giant journaling block under my photo, and then balanced them with pins in similar colours to the acetates, giving a rainbow effect.

Finally, I was browsing my computer looking for a black and white photograph (I planned a title from old black Thickers) when I came across one of my Stampin' Up! stall at the school Summer Fayre last year. Luke helped me to set it up, so I got a stall holder to take a picture of us when he was done. I noticed that the background was strips of colour too, and with all the colour on the table being small detailed objects, this would work really well as a colour photograph too!

With a title made up of what letters I had left (not an e to be seen!), and personal journaling added in black pen, to me this is a simple and effective layout, which is far from my usual style, but one I will treasure

My acetates were a mixture of Banana Frog, My Minds Eye, American Crafts and Pink Paislee (I think), my Thickers American Crafts, and the journaling spots were also AC, from various ranges.

I look forward to seeing how you make my sketch work for you - it's attached to this post. Remember, you can stick with it... or you can rotate it, flip it, pick elements from it... It's a starting point you can dive off into any direction that works for you and the memory you're depicting.

Thanks for stopping by - see you next month when I have NEW stash from my new catalogue... oh my!

    Leanne x

Really enjoyed this - although my strips got a bit shuffled up compared to the sketch!

That's' so pretty Alison. I like all of it, especially the alpha, that's a really nice font style to match the page.
