I am investing in the perfect layers and the perfect square tool as I have spent hours using my old school ruler , set square etc and these look like the short cut to the problem.
If not I shall go mad as it bugs me that any other way it never is true no matter what I do !

Have you tried using a small patchwork ruler or the Tim Holtz ruler?

I have a Fiskars cutter and have never had a problem cutting A3 down to A4 or any other size!! They are all marked on the bed of the cutter and as long as you ensure you are using the right line it works!!
I have bought the small Perfect Layers rulers, hope this helps me to mat and layer a bit more.......
To answer Groovegal, yes, you should be able to get straight lines with the Perfect Layers around any picture etc.

Gosh, after all this time its not me....its the card! I always assumed the card pre cut would be perfect, its so good to know it isn't always so.

I found out, to my cost, many years ago that A4 card is allowed to be up to 1mm out in the cut. When you are printing cards for charity and putting 2 A6 cards to an A4 sheet it proves really difficult, especially if the front of the card has a frame.

Now I measure and trim my card accordingly which is such a pain but sometimes you can just look at the card and see where it runs out.

Don't get me started on trimmers though!
