Hello My names Carmel, I'm 19 and attending college studying Hair and make-up media. I love arty stuff, fashion, (building up flat packs is a guilty pleasure of mine!) I also love family, dogs and owls.

    Hope thats enough about me!

I think the name DIYers is good! Makes us sound like we got lots of girl power haha x

I know what you mean about instructions sometimes but my biggest problem these days is the weight of the things. Its all very well for them to say 2 people but I live alone (apart from the cat and I've never found her much help lol)

I love flat packs too!! I love them so much that when my husband did a kitchen unit a few years back to help me, I felt really cheated! Honestly I am asking you!!!!
But I don't bother with the instructions as they often don't make much sense... I look at the pictures and follow them
I use the floor as assistant (although my husband sometimes lends a hand)- which means turning the furniture in such a way that the floor can be assisting, if that makes sense! Which then makes reading the picture instructions a bit more challenging

Yeah :') I'm moving out next year and we're getting flat pack stuff, I'm so excited to do it all! I've told my boyfriend he can do the big stuff though (with my assistance of course)

I just know as soon as they arrive I'll want to start with them but I'll have to wait till they get to the new house!

I know the feeling Carmel.. I am havng an extensionbuilt at the moment - kitchen downstairs and walking wardrobe upstairs. I have all my flat pack furniture and I need to sit on my hands not to start putting them up as the walls of the extension have just started to go up!!

    Exciting though!

I have downloaded and printed the "What is a CJ?" document so I can refer to it as I go along...
Has anyone started on their book cover yet? Admittedly we need to choose a theme for our book... Any suggestions? I think I might go for "the Wonders of Nature" to keep it as open to creativity as possible...

Does anyone know if we'll be sending the whole book or just pages? I have read somewhere that we can do either..

Also what size book do you choose? Is it just us 5 or are there more people likely to join us?
Sorry for all the questions ..

Hi Mags, don't apologise for any questions - you've never done a CJ before so are bound to have them

Newbie CJs have changed from the way they used to be run as we had such a lot of problems with the newbie ones We get problems in all CJs but we seemed to get a lot all at once with the newbie s If you look at the link I have posted at the top of this message, that explains what you do now ... in a nutshell, newbies no longer send out their whole CJ, you choose a theme and then the rest of the group send pages to you. You also need to be aware that you are committed to 3 lots of newbie CJ ...ie when you have alll completed and sent 5 pages (one for each person in the group) then you go on to Round 2, do the same and then go on to Round 3 ... then once you have done 3 lots of newbie CJs you can go on to do a regular CJ and this is where you can send the whole book if you wish (bearing in mind postage costs now)

Have a read and let me know what you all think

I also thought that 6x6 may be a good size to do, thinking about the new postage rates.... I sent a small pressie to eldest DD this week and it cost 8.95!! That was just standard post not special delivery or tracked or anything
