Backing Up Your Silhouette Design Files/Library To ensure that you don't lose any of your Silhouette design or Library files, please make sure that you back them up to an external hard drive, online storage facilities, or a USB Stick. And remember to do this on a regular basis andd/or whenever you add new files or make any important changes to your data. These files are not stored as normal files but in a special format in a specific folder. Here's how to back them up:
Mac
Open Finder and go to Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio.8.
Copy the entire folder and it’s contents without making any changes
Paste the files into your backup location.
Backup again whenever you purchase and download new files.
Windows XP
Click on Start – My Computer and locate C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio.8
Copy the entire folder and it’s contents without making any changes
Paste the files into your backup location.

Windows 7
Click on Start – Computer and locate C:\Program Files\Silhouette Studio\Resources\resources\com.aspexsoftware.Silho uette_Studio.8

Reinstalling Your Silhouette Design Files on a New Computer
Mac
Open Finder and go to Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio.8. , replace the entire directory and file structure with your previously stored backup files and folders. Do not change the structure or contents. (See above about backing up)
Windows XP
From the Start menu, click on My Computer and locate C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio.8 , replace the entire file with the previously backed up copy.
Windows 7 From the Start menu, click on Computer and locate C:\Program Files\Silhouette Studio\Resources\resources\com.aspexsoftware.Silho uette_Studio.8 , replace the entire file with the previously backed up copy.
Next, locate C:\ProgramData\com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio .8, replace this entire file as well with the previously backed up copy of that file.

Thank you from me too. Now all I need to do is buy another memory stick as I backed up my entire computer on the one I have and I don't want to interfere with that. If I'm only doing Silhouette files it should be quite quick too, whereas last time it took forever and ran out of space (16G. Is there a way to find out how much space I need?

If you follow Rosemary's instructions when you get to the files select com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio .8 then right click your mouse and choose properties it will say how much space is needed
is studio 8 the latest version,please, as I can't find it on my computer?. Perhaps it hasn't updated itself.
Open your Studio programme/click help/about and if it is the latest version it will say 2.7.4 if not you can update Studio from the link here. Then follow Rosemary's instructions
Thankyou Rosemary for this information I found it very informative hunny....All mine is now backed up!!! I lost everything a few years back when my lappy went to the lap top grave yard!! I was gutted!! as it happened very unexpectedly!! Nothing could be recovered!!!.. It took me months (if at all) to regain some of the ones (my faves) that I lost!!

Ah Right it's the C:/ProgramData\com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio .8 you can't find, on my W7 pc it's the folder below the programmes folder. In my screen shot below, the green arrow is pointing at the programmes folder and the purple arrow is pointing at the data folder
