Technique Thursday WAYS TO USE IT – January - Dig Doilies

Technique Thursday WAYS TO USE IT, is all about getting you to use the techniques that we have already covered in the Technique Forum. Why learn a new technique and not use it ? Maybe there are techniques that have yet to be discovered, and if there is, then I will include the instructions in the post.

Technique Thursday WAYS TO USE IT, will be a month long challenge, which will give you plenty of time to join in and post your completed projects to the gallery, and then link up to this thread.

Today's challenge is all about DOILIES! There are doily stamps, punches, and die cuts. I am sure that there are even more doily products in the paper crafting world that I am unaware of !

Some of you might even be able to crochet your own doily. Sadly, I haven’t got a clue where to start with crochet, so I have used a doily background stamp for my sample!

Scrapbookers - I have attached a couple of amazing layouts from the internet from Camilla Ekman and Mary Hamer - they show that doilies can be used either to create textured backgrounds, or the focal point.

For visual learners - here's a great link to lots of DOILY samples from Pinterest.

I look forward to seeing your samples !

    Cal xx

I hadn't spotted this one before. I don't have doilies but I'll see what I can improvise with.
    Thanks for the ideas

Thank you - amazing site - very inspirational. I have dozens of beautiful laces in a drawer - and as we are in the process of a refurb of the house they will finally be used again I think.

    From one paper doily!

Hi - here is my attempt at the doily dress. It only took one six inch doily as I inadvertantly made the skirt a little less full. I coloured them using - wait for it - old eye shadows!!! Mainly on account of that's all I had at hand. but they have a lovely sheen to them IRL that I don't think shows up much in the picture.

I will post the measurements for the dress base/template in a little while.

Only just seen this Cal, am I too late? Assuming not.

Beautiful examples, I have some crochet doilies I got at a charity shop ages ago, wonder if I can use mists through them??? Will have to have a go.
