Technique Thursday with Cal- 28 June - Square & Rectangle Mats using Border and Corne

Once again, welcome to another Technique Thursday.

This week, we are looking at creating Square and Rectangle mats using our border punches and square punches.

As the tutorial says - SIZE really does matter !!! So please, read the attached tutorial, and either make a note of the sizes, or save this document for future reference.

As the tutorial contains numerous photographs, I haven't included a You Tube tutorial this week.

    I gave it try.

I don't have the scallop punchs used in the tutorial - but tried it with the Martha Stewart Butterflies - could not make it work out. To be honest I really regret buying that MS set. Too expensive to sit in a drawer though - will have another cup of tea and try again !

Right - after advice from several fellow card makers - I finally grasped what I was doing wrong with the MS punches - so here is a card for this week's technique:-

Navy blue card stock; White mat with MS Monarch butterfly border; Clarity Stamp butterfly in fantasy film/fibres.

Gorgeous card, glad you've mastered the Martha Stewart punches.

I doubt I can do this technique as I don't have suitable punches but I'm going to give a try with the ones I do have and see what I can come up with.

Wow - thats fab ! So pleased that you persevered, it looks amazing. I think you have to really line things up right with the more intricate mats, and for the one you've used, I would say that it would only work with the larger mats.

Thanks for joining in though xx

    That butterfly border is beautiful.
I'm sitting this one out Cal - I made 100 Christmas cards last year with the MS snowflake border. I liked the design but I was so fed up with punching the border- to repeat what you said - 'size does matter' LOL!
