    May Project, Step by Step

Start with your mist and background cardstock. Spray a fine mist over the middle of the page, then uncap the bottle and use the end of the spray tube to sprinkle larger splats of ink in a diagonal line from the bottom left to the top right of the page.

Cut a strip of the darkest of your patterned papers - about 2.5x11 inches, but you don't really have to measure at all. Adhere it toward the right side of the page, in a vertical line.

Cut a strip of the other solid coloured pattern - slightly shorter and narrower than the first. Adhere this to the left of the first strip, overlapping the two.

Use your photo strip to judge the size of the box to cut from your multi-coloured pattern - it should make a wide mat around the photo.

Adhere the multi-coloured strip over the join of the two solid patterns. (Look ahead if you're using adhesive that can't be repositioned.)

    Top with the photo strip.

Use the reverse side of your multi-coloured pattern to cut a square just slightly larger than your doily. Tuck this under the left edge of the multi-coloured photo mat.

Add the doily on top of that - again tucked under that left edge. (You can cut the doily to fit that side if needed.)

Start your title with the large letters. The optimal spacing will have that word fit so it ends right at the edge of the doily box.

Complete the title with the smaller letters and handwriting if needed.

Pierce two holes: one immediately below the left edge of your title and the other straight across from there, on top of the doily, near the edge of the photo mat.

Place brads in those holes, wrap baker's twine around each brad and then secure the brads on the back of the page. Trim the ends of the twine to just leave a short tail.

Head back to the far right of the page and add some strips of paper here to balance the two sides, since the title goes nearly to the edge of the page on the left. You can use the b-side of the multi-coloured paper again here, either in a plain strip or with a border punch.

If you patterned papers have a printed branding strip, those are great too. (If not, you can duplicate the patterns or you could add some scraps of others.)

On the narrowest of these strips, pierce a hole at the top and bottom and add brads.

Add twine here too, but this time loop a longer length around and tie the ends in a bow in the middle. If your bow doesn't stay where you want, touch it to your adhesive roller to get just enough glue to hold it in place.

From a scrap of the papers you cut earlier, handcut a small pennant shape. Adhere on top of the doily.

Handcut a heart (or other suitable shape) from the other single-coloured patterned paper. Attach this on top of the pennant with pop dots. (If a handcut heart or other shape gives you hives, you have permission to use a punch or die to cut the shape you want.)

Add your writing. Something small on the doily centre above the shapes and something longer below the twine and title.

Ta-da: finished page with a photo strip!

Now do please share yours here in the gallery, and three layouts posted by the end of the month will be selected to win a prize pack of scrapping goodies!

I can't believe I'm first past the post, usually I'm finishing my page after the closing date. Well once I saw the finished page I decided to completely change form my original papers and pictures. I challenged myself to use scraps from my ever expanding box and am really pleasd with the result. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Wow! you were quick - and I love the vintage feel, it works really well with your b/w photo strip. I've got everything ready except the pictures - I've been putting off that bit!

Great pages Jo and Louise. Interesting to see the different pages coming from the same class.

Here's mine. I stuck to the papers I pulled on the 10th, ditched the smaller letters as unnecessary and added in a border sticker as the 'A side' of the green was a Christmas paper.

Can we arrange for the 20th of every month to be a Sunday? It was great to get stuck in straight away. I managed January by the 30th but the other months are still on my To Do list.

They are all brilliant ladies. I wasn't going to use a photo strip but I think it would be best now so have to wait for that to be done but I have finished the layout. I loved this one even more than last month
