Thanks for that, S-P, I've sent an email for her attention to Bramwells. Fingers crossed ...

Have you tried the reset button? I noticed HeyJude posted the instructions for you, I know a few that done that and it worked........good luck!

I've tried all the variations on the reset button routine several times, but it hasn't worked, and I didn't think it would as there doesn't seem to be any power going in to the machine.
I think I will have to give serious consideration to Plan B

Have a changed the fuse in the plug, I notice you said there doesn't seem to be any power going to the machine?
Just read back, should have done that before posting. You've already tried a new lead etc.
Hope you can get it working again.

Eek I was thinking of buying one today. This has put me off somewhat as it's a big expense. How old is ur machine Eileen?

Can't remember, but three or four years at least. It didn't give any warning signs, just stopped!

My Expression did the same thing - just died midway through cutting - it was only 13 months old - I ended up buying a Sizzix Eclips and have to say I am really happy with it - personally I think it gives a cleaner cut than the expression I had.

"But what about my cartridges?" she wails in indecision!
Been to a crop today and one of the ladies was working at persuading me to look at the Silhouetter SD, but I'm wary because of my previous Robo experience.

Have you tried someone elses lead Eileen?
Was it Maryanne that has a problem with her block some time ago? She e-mailed cricut for a replacement as she couldn't find on with the same voltage or whatever over here. They sent her a new one !!
The silhouette SD cuts doesn't cut the same size though, A4 ? !!
ETA - post 65 on here about the transformer replacement:-

I'm a little sinner!
Rules for all electical appliances (I suspect you have already done most of them
First check socket - plug something in the same socket that you know for a 100% fact is working, I usually use the hair dryer as it is quick to take from socket to socket and test
check fuse, take one out of the working appliance plug and put into yours, check connection wires in plug while at it, you never know when a wire has come loose
check connections of lead to appliance. Not so easy on the cricut but take a look at where the figure 8 end goes in, is there dust in there, do the connection ends look burn (take a sniff at them too, do they smell burnt)
Try a different lead (and check that the block is the same voltage exactly, I tried for ages to get my bubble lamp to work before I realised I was using the wrong block and it had too low a voltage)
If all else fails, pick it up and give it a gentle shake, because if its a dodgy connection, an unseated switch or just dust in the gubbins, it sometimes fixes the problem.
After that you are getting into dodgy territory. You really need to know if power is getting to the machine or not, do you have any electrician friends with one of their magic screwdrivers that test for current. If power is getting through it could be something as simple as a burnt out on/off switch, but that is probably as far as you can go with trying to sort out the problem on your own as it could be the motor, the circuit board, the reset or all manner of things.
Fingers crossed its easily fixed.
