    Picnik closing :(

Did anyone else get the email saying Picnik would be closing, in April?? Well guttered - I love editing photos with it. And Photobox use Picnik aswell so I hope they find an alternative.

No idea what to use when it's gone!!

It's a free photo editing site. I've used it loads too. Good thing is we have until mid April and all the features are free including the ones you used to pay to use. We'd best make the most of it while we can. I'm wondering what to use instead too. Answers on a postcard because I'm not sure I'll get to grips with Photoshop quick enough.

I have photoshop CS4 and its really easy to edit in it. Just as easy as picnik really. Load pic, go to image >adjustments, then all you have to do is click on levels and click auto. That does most of what picnik did but if you want to do a few more things you can follow the same path again but instead of levels, try curves (most cameras wont need this alteration but its worth clicking auto in there too if you want).
Cropping is simple too, just click on the crop tool and then pull out the size around the area you want. Its actually better than picnik as you can actually put in the sizes you want and photoshop will restrain the ratios for you.

If you still feel that is too difficult, picasa does have its own built in editing bit that uses much of the same controls that picnik did, and most people used that before picnik hit the scene anyway.

Thanks Yizz. I've just had a little play with Photoshop and it's not as hard as I thought to do basic editing.

I use Picassa (free to download) and it does more than enough editing for me.

Will people not be able to use the Picnik editing features when they're moved to Google+?

It mentioned something different and also it won't do as much as Picnik. I even liked the seasonal effects - the valentine pink hue and even halloween vampire had some good effects - warm and cool.

Just disappointing when you get used to a programme and then it goes

Is Picnik run by the same people that run Slide.com ? They're also closing at the end of March too.
I've never used Picnik as I have photoshop Elements but I do use Slide.com on my blog so need to look for something to replace it, anyone know of any other free ones ?

I'm sure you can do slideshows with Photobucket Gwyneth, not tried it, although I have several albums hosted there, but I use Slide too, so like you, need to replace mine.

Just looked, yes there is a slideshow facility, will have to investigate more.

I use Picassa and then a programme called RIOT to decrease the image size so it will take up less space on my blog id the image is going up on there.
