    Grand Calibur

Can someone help me with the Grand Calibur I had one for Christmas and I am not certain if I have used the plates and dies correct, I put the grey A plate at the bottom then my spellbinder die cutting edge up then card on top then my B plate is this correct as it cut into my B plate. I have a Big Shot and I no the dies cut into the clear plate but before I get it all wrong I thought someone on here will tell me if it is correct.

The GC has the plates marked (at least mine does!)

You can do it either way

    grey base plate
    die face up
    paper or card
    white cutting plate

    OR

    white cutting plate
    paper or card
    die face down
    grey base plate

A long as the cutting edge is towards the cutting plate you should be good to go. With the cutting edge DOWN I think it embosses when cutting a bit more, almost so you don't need to do te embossing step at all.

Mary Anne this is what I did but was a bit worried because it was cutting into the cutting plate and I wasnt sure that was correct.

As far as I know all die cutting machines are the same in this respect - at least with the various ones I've used, I've had the dies mark the cutting plates to a greater or lesser extent. If the depth of your die "cutting blade" is greater than the thickness of the medium you're cutting (which in most cases it's going to be), then this is bound to happen.

Ditto that! You should see my plate. It's a mess of cuts.

It's the A and C plate for cutting, the B plate is used when you emboss, still cuts into the C plate though, I expected it as the same had happened with my bug
