I'm not sure what Urban style is, but I like the sound of it do you have a blog or a flickr so we could see some of your stuff Nipper?

I like to use paint/ink but I am obsessive about clean hands, so I wear latex-type gloves. For making art I use the same pair for weeks, so there's no expense involved.

I would also love to see some of your work, Nipper.

I like urban style but it's quite difficult to define it, and I suppose my idea might be different from someone else's. I think of: graffiti; street life; black and white pictures; advertising images; stencil art; grungy decaying industrial landscapes, scratchy paint effects etc.

Some of my pages have a bit of an Urban flavour, like this double page spread.

Yes I think I geddit there Claudia - thanks for sharing. Not sure it will come naturally to me, but its always worth challenging yourself to have a go! Have promised myself a session with my journal this afternoon, so as soon as I've eaten my soup I'm onto it!

Thanks, and yes, that makes total sense!

Well, I'm nearly finished reorganising my art/craft area at last. I've been at it for 3 days solid and it's been really tedious at times (hours sorting through boxes of bits/scraps etc), but nearly everything is now in proper, labelled containers. Just waiting for my new stacking paper trays to arrive and then everything will be ship-shape. Feeling quite satisfied about it (it was a disorganised mess before).

I might be able to get on with some actual art/craft then!!

I have just done a whole house tidy up, all those drawers full of junk that might come in useful. It went on for days.

I'm sure as a crafter we are more prone to junk collecting because we can use it in a future craft project

Fantastic page Claudia - I think I have seen it on your blog before? Or maybe one similar. Loved it then and love it now.

As for clear outs/tidy ups- I LOVE the aftermath of these, but not the during

Nice work Leah! Love the peacock feather. Now you've got started I'm sure you'll find you can't stop!

Sounds like we are quite similar; I am obsessive about planning, measuring and perfectly aligning everything when I'm making cards and I hate anything messy or which sheds (eg glitter or embossing powder).

I was really wary of paint when I started art journalling, but I quite quickly learned to let go. (The latex gloves help!)

Flo - yep, that's an old page. I just posted it because we were talking about what the 'eck 'urban' style is.
I haven't done anything new for flipping ages

Hey folks. What a grim day it is here today. Really grey, rainy and windy. Yuck.

My super-tidy new art/craft area is sitting all pristine and ready to use, but I find I've got crafter's block! I made a (plain) box for a card, and then totally ran out of motivation and energy.

I've got all this spare time to craft, but I'm wasting it because I feel all flat and lethargic.

    Anybody else doing anything arty?

Grey and wet and windy and miserable here too. I've had to switch the lights on by 2pm!!

I desperately want to journal but I have the opposite problem to you... plenty inspiration but no time and, more importantly, no space! I got part way through a major clear out/reorganisation of my craft room but then stalled and then got massively derailed by DH deciding to tidy the rest of the house - which pretty much involves him picking up everything he thinks is where it shouldn't be and dumping it in my craft room! So now I've got to clear *that* crap before I can finish sorting and tidying my craft stuff.
