I make 'all the same design' about 15 cards for immediate family and those are all the cards i send. I do though normally give 10 to a charity and 10 to the local dogs home so the doggies can have a christmas lunch and same again to local cats protection league, money is very tight this year though so may have to cut that back this year.

I have one to make, a request that we do secret santa with a card at my crop. It will be the first one I have made for a few years. Like you Rosie, I have turned to Oxfam this week and picked up ours. It's quite handy having one a ten minute walk away.

The crop one can wait until after my birthday though as I refuse to write any until then.

And hello Claudia! Nice to have you back again.

Well seeing as I'm not only a Christian but one of those wimmin priests ... Christmas cards aren't optional! I did love making my own but there just hasn't been time this year ... well that's the excuse I'm sticking to

Maybe I was too busy writing in my journal ...?

I've sold most of the cards I've made so far. The next lot are for parents and in-laws, and then (if I get round to it!) our own.

I enjoy making them, as long as I've got a good audiobook to listen to.

I had some minor surgery yesterday, so I'm at home taking it easy for a week now. So I've got plenty of time to sit and make cards.

I had make all my cards every year. I made 40 very complicated ones last year. They took over an hour and a half EACH! (What was I thinking?) This year I am sending an ethical gift card to each family group rather than making them one each. Costs me about the same and supports a cause that is very dear to my heart (please see charity forum for more details!). But because I love making, especially near christmas I am handmaking all of the christmas gift tags this year!

Nipper I'm the same - I thought about the hours of work, and then the fact that nobody really benefited from the fact that I made my own cards. This way at least I know I've helped Oxfam ... even if I do feel a bit guilty!!

Been beavering away in my art journal again ... I seem to use my Promarkers all the time now, but then I never was much of a paint person, and I do at least feel I'm working in what is truly "my" style and not a sincere imitation of somebody else's ... I just wish I wasn't so neat and tiday, but can't seem to manage a free approach which splashes paint about!! Just me.

Sometimes it's useful not to be too messy Rosie. Sometimes when I've been using a lot of spray inks I look at my hands in horror when I think about going to work.

I don't mind going to work with blue or green fingers, but yellow makes me look horribly nicotine stained, and red is veering into serial killer territory

    Rosie I love your style.
I am bit of a messy player I'm afraid and still waiting for my own style to appear.

Flo - mine are usually blue or purple stained. I can usually get the red and yellow off! I usually get a few odd looks at work. Those that know are always "Nic you been arty-ing again?!" they find it hilarious that I like to do art as I am a scientist and shunned the art degree students when I was at university. Now I can finally appreciate that they were doing a degree in something they love rather than something they are good at (like me!).

Zully - have you tried doing a fine art type background with your pro markers? Or go nuts with a blender pen? Maybe a collage type background with pieces of coloured paper and liquid glue (I love modge podge) Or something less messy than paint like the caran d'ache water colour crayons? Draw something out and then go over just a few bits of it with a wet brush to make it pop or fade. Give it a spray with cheap hairspray to fix it and voila background to start!

    Just a few ideas!

ShirleyJune - my style was unfortunately 70's carpet and wallpaper esk. Slowly refining now to make it less gaudy! I love urban style and my pages are starting to take on this feel.
