[QUOTE=Miss Lemon;6293549]Hey folks! Who else has been playing with paint today?

I have been busy with my watercolours and have blogged a two-step Yupo page, and also a step-by-step floral picture using Watersoluble crayons on normal watercolour paper (requested by someone who liked the poppies I did a while ago.) All very summery!

love your page, too! super summery colours :0)

Thank you Claudia for the info on Yuto paper I am going to try to track some down and have a go because I love the finished effects.(Yours are wonderful) I have been trying to buy some watercolour crayons as well but with out success. Perhaps I should have been looking for watersoluble crayons then I might have found them.

I have tried Stabilo ones but I (and most of us on here) would recommend the Caran D'ache Neocolor II Watersoluble crayons. They really are great - very good quality colour (lots of pigment) and very easy to use (very forgiving).

Hope you manage to find some Yupo paper too - you will have lots of fun playing with it (and drive yourself mad at the same time!) If you get some please do post about using it, and the results.

Oh no! You shouldn't have shown me that - now I want some too!

You can basically do all that stuff with the caran d'ache ones (and I have quite a lot of them), but the inktense ones set once they've been wetted. I'm wondering if that is a big enough difference to justify me buying some?! I really can't afford to. Oh bother, there's just so much lovely stuff out there, all wanting me to buy it!

I went and had a look too Claudia, but concluded that my Caran d'ache crayons did the same job. Inspired by the new Art Journalling magazine I've been exploring some new techniques ... which don't quite feel like me, although I'm sure the ideas will find their way into future pages in one form or another.

Just thought I'd say that it is possible to lift Inktense pencils/blocks once they have set. You need to use pure alchohol--isopropanol. This also shifts acrylic paints & inks when they have dried & creates patterns when sprayed over them when wet.

They are also really BRIGHT when wetted, much more so than ordinary watersoluble pencils.

That's interesting about isopropyl - I've got some of that and might experiment! Had a burst of creativity yesterday afternoon and worked on three or four pages - I don't normally do that. Am slowly working my way through the new art journalling magazine, stopping to try out styles or techniques which appeal, or things which spark an idea for a page .... and my memory is so bad that I can go back through old issues and its almost like reading a new one!
