Uncharted waters would be the easier safe option - Keep pondering Along the Line and thinking I might wander off at such a tangent I'll lose the whole theme along the way

Well I looked at the simple theme 'This is a sketch book' and thought I'd just add in the taphophile to make it relevant to me

Nothing wrong with going off at a tangent, its part of the fun and none of us will mind. I know it doesn't help make the decision process any easier!!

Okay, okay, I keep coming back to "Nothing New".

Now all I need is my sketck book - did we say 7 x 5? Or was that the Tip In Book?

(Please be gentle with me, I've had a hard week at work and not feeling too good *sniffle* )

Some excellent titles ladies, I'm also going to set up a flickr group, and I'll contact MaryAnne about a gallery and where she thinks its best to run this from. I definitely do not want to run it as a cj a that limits participants, mind you we might just stay a small group of happy crafters which is good too Hoping to hunt out my old sketch books and post some pics this weekend.

I'm going to price sketchbooks up tomorrow but depending on the price I might make one up. Just thinking if I made one I could use different sorts of paper, not sure.

question for those already doing these sort of books, is it standard to use both sides of a page or just use one side? Just thinking if I use anything like stains or water colours if it would go through to the other side and how others get around that.

Jane its really up to you, looking through my old sketch books I quite often glued/stapled my pieces in rather than working directly on the pages but that might have been becaused it was going to be assessed ( I was doing my City&Guilds of Creative Emb) and only my best work was to be in them. It really is down to personal choice.

I'm going to use one of my old sketchbooks, its A3. I'm into using what I have and I'll probably work on spare paper and glue them into the pages.

    Flickr group is here

Thanks Lou. I think I like the idea of working on to other paper then attaching it into a book gives me something else to think about now.

Have you got a date when we are all starting or do we just put pictures up as and when?

Jane I'd just make a start now and I'll probably put a finishing date of Jan 2012 on project still to make a few final decisions.

I have decided on my theme for my sketchbook it is

SERENDIPITY - Chance discoveries and unexpected finds

I choose this because I didnt want to be too tied to a subject so anything I see or find can be included. Got a Pink Pig Sketchbook with a lovely bright Lime green cover - size 12 x 6 so plenty of room on the pages. I will work both on the page and on other papers and also on one or both sides (facing). really looking forward to starting now.

There are some great themes, looking forward to seeing them all.

I got 2 books 8x12 landscape, with black card pages, so going to use your idea Lou of working mostly on other paper then attaching it in to my book.

Saw some great things at the show, fell in love with some fantastic bird sculptures and also there were so many things on show with a early British History theme; celtic, viking, saxon, medieval. In allsorts of media; textile, jewellery, paper crafting etc and that got my mind whirling around about another sketch book with that sort of theme. Hence why I got 2 sketchbooks I normal have 3 cj's on the go and as I'm going to withdraw from them a bit I though I could manage 2 sketchbooks and I can work in either depending on my mood.

So excited by this project, come at just the right time for me.
