I'm just getting into this and am already completely HOOKED (my first effort is on my blog here . My inspiration was Kate Crane from The Kathryn Wheel, but I'd love to be in touch with other people exploring this too - am thinking of booking on a workshop in October run by Artist Trading Post. I also understand there's a magazine - is it from Stampington - and would be keen to buy a couple of back issues, just to see if I like it.

And most of all - tell me MORE, ie where to find inspiration, techniques, etc etc. Please share your bookmarks! Did I mention that I'm already addicted??

Yes. Anneliese used to do them at the Artist Trading Post (her brother's shop) and now she has set it up in her own name. I've been to almost all of them! In fact there's a running joke about the hammock for me so I could stay! I have done the art journaling but as two one day workshops. They are excellent.

I'm going to the Tim Holtzy style weekend in May. And look out for a 12 tags w/e in December if Anneliese decides to do it again. Last year was great.

I'm getting excited and I haven't booked yet! My friend doesn't know yet if she can go so I am hopping about wondering whether to book and hope or hang on! I am glad to hear that they are good!

You guys are lucky having art journalling courses locally so you can get together with likeminded folk. There is absolutely NOTHING on offer around this area at all.

Someone did try to run a course at the adult ed college but not enough people signed up (I did - maybe I was the only one!), so it got cancelled before it even started.

That's why I'm so pleased I have you lovely people to talk to, and look at each other's work, and share technique chats with. I'd be a very lonely art journaller otherwise!

Claudia, I don't know where in Sussex you are, or if you drive and have a car, if you do, you are most welcome to come and spend the day at Pickleberry to do some art journaling with a few of us. We also have an evening, first Tuesday of each month where some of us get together, not a class as such but lots of inspiration and advice if you want it.

Ooh, I thought it had gone very quiet.......

AJ asked: Can I just ask when doing the she art course did you have any trouble sourcing any of the materials?

No, in fact we didn't even use all the things she had on her list. And there was nothing that was a 'must' except maybe paint. I did my first She-Art on a piece of sketch pad, rather than a canvas. All the things she mentioned for texturing your background were things you find at home or can easily improvise.

Someone asked about paint: I found some cheap (1.25 per bottle) acrylic paint at our local office supply. It probably isn't the most brilliant, but it's fine for this class, especially for backgrounds. And remember you can mix paint, so you needn't buy every colour.

The gel mediums and texture paste are a little expensive (around 6-8 per jar) but not essential. If you do buy them, they'll last for years. Same with ModPodge.

    Hope that helps.
