Basic Help in Getting to Know Studio (none project making)

The Studio software comes with an excellent built in Users Manual that you can access by clicking on the Help menu on the top tool bar of the Studio software and then clicking on Users Manual.

This manual can seem a bit daunting at first, but don't be put off as it also has a "Find" option on the top tool bar of the manual window, type in there what you want help with eg cut lines and it will open the window containing the help you need, if it doesn't find what you want try a different word or you can use the menus on the left hand side and navigate to the topic you need help with.

Below are none project making tutorials, where I have tried to explain how some of the functions work, this thread is a work in progress and will be added to as and when.

Backing up Your Studio Designs and Media Settings

I like to manually back up all folders and files for any software I use that contain custom changes etc in case of a computer crash or my HDD gets corrupted.

If you share this information on any other forum, I would appreciate it if you don't claim credit for my findings but give credit to UKScrappers.

I've been is discussion with the Silhouette Software Team for a week as of today, getting as much information as I can about how I can back up my Studio media and library folders, I've put all the information together with what I am going to do to keep my files safe based on what I can't post in the attached pdf document, you can either read it here or download for future reference.

    Cutting Help

This tutorial does not cover print and cut, I've tried to explain as simply as possible what the cut options actually do, as I found the manual didn't explain very well and the descriptions were confusing eg. what is the difference between an outline and a perimeter.

I hope some of you find this useful and despite the screen shot, no I'm not teaching you to make lattice

    Use Your Own Pattern Papers

Holmesmade has expanded on my previous tutorial for filling designs with your own patterns, to include text. I have updated the tutorial to include both her findings and mine as we both work slightly differently.
