    What's your "process" each month?

I've been following Shimelles blog to get started, catch up and work backwards.

Can I ask those of you who are pro's at this, what is your process each month for completing your pages.

I've set up folders for August, September and October photos.

Once you have your photos what do you do next. What have you found works and what doesn't?
    Thanks
    Kathy

I've got the folders set up for each month, as it gets towards the end of the month I have a quick scan through and check how many pictures there are. I'm looking for about 20 that cover four or five topics. One of the topics will always be flowers in my garden that month. If I've not got enough, I've made myself go out somewhere with my camera. This has been one of the positives from this project, its made me go out for walks more and notice things.
At the same time I always include a postcard size piece of info about topical news, so in word I have adocument that I just make little notes on about whats been happening. At the end of the month the word document is trimmed down to bullet points for three or four headlines and I print out all of the photos from my folder. I usually print all of them so that I can select the best.
When I get the photos I select two topics for my focus pages and make those pages. for the divided pages, I put in the flower photos and the 'news' info, then I look at whats left and journal on two 4X6 cards what is happening on the other photos I'm using.

I've managed to keep up with the project by doing this. I know it seems like a lot of thought but honestly its worked for me.

If you go to my blog I've got a slideshow of the story so far on the bottom right of the page. just get rid of those pesky poker pets, they drive me nuts.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks. This seems a very logical way to select which topics are to become focus pages and which will feature in the divided protectors.

Reviewing the folder before the end of the month to catch up on some photos amkes sense. I've loads for August and October already, but September is quite short.

What about looking at the news headlines fpr September, it might be possible to get some news related pictures off the net. I did that when I talked about the Icelandic volcano.

I snap away and then down load onto my computer. At the end of the month I look through the photos from that month and decide which ones to get printed (my home prints are rubbish). I get around 10 - 20. I also get a couple of larger prints for my main focus page. I try to keep soveniers from the month (tickets, restaurant cards, brochures etc) in an envelope to use in my first page. Sometimes I do two focus pages and sometimes one focus page and one with the envelope. I have been very lucky this year as I have travelled alot and had alot going on although next month I am going to concentrate on silly things in my life (I have decided to do a picture of my Fit Flops because I love them so much!!) and maybe my watch as I love that too. I like to try and keep all the papers to match through out the month. I have really enjoyed this project and have tried to keep up to date. Enjoy!!! x

Thanks Louise. I like the idea of the flexibility between the focus pages and envelope, and tying the monthtogether with co-ordinating papers.

I printed my August photos last night which was a feat as I had plenty and wanted to resize some. I'm hoping to get chance to assemble a few things later.

I've just seen the October PDF on the home page. Shimelle mentions a little bit about her process of breaking Doc2010 into four parts. Has anyone else tried this approach?

I've got a few months backlog and wondered about how to tackle it as a whole instead of month by month, it seems daunting either way so any tips would be welcome.

Hi Hannah. I did this when Shimelle did her "catch up" on her blog..... sorted through my photos, and put them into separate folders on my desktop. I then completed my 'envelope' page, printed out the photos and decided which I would focus on. Photos on the photo divider pages, focus page and then completed the journalling. I di April right through to September using this method (Thanks Shimelle!). I've already sorted out the colours I'll be using for the rest of the year and put them in the album and am making sure I take lots of photos to choose from. HTH? Jude.x

thanks Jude ~ yes that helped. I missed shimelle's posts when I was away. I have all my coloured papers for each month too ~ I just need to create the pages.
