Gel Medium is an acrylic extender which can be used as a glue. It adheres better to acrylic paint than other glues making it ideal for art journals or for making transfers. It comes in a matte or gloss finish. It can also be called multi-medium. I popped in art shop yesterday and they didn't stock it, but it is readily available at online art stores.

I haven't really found any books that "do it" for me yet tbh ... I've had Visual Chronicles, Journal Revolution and recently bought Creative Wildfire and Journal Junkies - all are nice to look at but .... I don't know ...

I would, however, highly recommend Art Journaling magazine by Somerset Studios! It is expensive, but its like a book, and try to find a UK stockist or you will pay astronomical shipping costs from the US. A gorgeous publication!

Bevsie, you can get gel medium in The Range or Hobbycraft if you have one near you. I also get some stuff online but they are not sponsors ...

Good point about the Aj mag! It's as pricey as a book.

I've got Journal Junkies and love some of the ideas in it. I'll take a look at the others. Thank you.

Just had a thought... wonder if I can pick up the AJ mag in New York somewhere. We're going for my birthday this year.

I looked in hobbycraft and couldn't see gel medium, there was something else but can't remember now what it was called.

I did say a while ago who stock AJ mag, but they're not a sponsor so daren't put it on here again. PM me if you want. They are waiting for Summer 2010 at the mo. They do have some others in stock though.

Yes I've got Summer 2010 of the AJ mag, and an earlier copy, and absolutely LOVED both. Will definitely be going back to them over and over for inspiration so definitely worth the high price. I did love Journal Spilling too, but the magazine was the best for its sheer variety of styles.

I wondered if art journalling might kill scrapbooking etc for me too, but I think not. I love to record our special times (we had a family christening at the weekend) like Christmas, and make an album for each of our holidays ... to remember when I'm old and broke! It is however clear that journalling has taken over the no.1 slot, and is something I can't wait to do even when I'm supposed to be doing something else!!

I saw somebody used templates on their pages, can't remember who though, Just wondered what they were. Am looking on AFTH website and can't see any, am sure Dyan stocked them before.

Are you thinking of the crafters workshop templates? AFTH does sell them in store but I can't say I've seen them online. There are a few sponsors that stock them though.

Yes, I did mean them. I thought I'd seen them there when I went. Never mind have ordered some from a different sponsor, and some of Dyan's altered originals spray. You lot are leading me astray! LOL

    Thank you
