IKEA vs "Storage 4 Crafts" furniture

Does anybody have experience of both IKEA and Storage4Crafts furniture? I'm currently in a *huge* dilemma which way to go with storage in my new craft space!
I *was* set on IKEA furniture - a small & larger Expedit unit + a VIKA desk, but I have been looking at the Storage4Crafts website & I'm wondering whether I'd be better going down the route of lots of smaller drawers in their units rather than big cubes that are flexible, but could also lead to lots of empty space. The storage4crafts units are quite a lot more expensive than IKEA furniture, and I'm not likely to be able to view/try before I buy if I go this route as they are so far from me (not to mention issues trying to coordinate a suitable delivery time vs picking it up from IKEA!)

    My key questions so far:
How easy are the storage4crafts units to put together - people can say what they like about IKEA but their furniture is dead simple to put together & sturdy too!
How sturdy are the plastic drawers in the storage4crafts units? Do they look nice, or a bit "cheap" looking and plasticy after a while?
Do the drawers look white against a white unit, or more cream/yellowish?
Is there enough "leg room" under the storage4crafts desk?
Are the storage4crafts units really worth the extra money over IKEA furniture - eg the Expedit unit?

Hi Woozle - can't help really but just popped by to say Hi and hope you're well.

Have you moved as you're planning a new craft space?

I brought one of the storage for craft units this month and made it within half an hour single handed, then spent 2 hours the following day to build an ikea filing cabinet for my mum! so very easy to assemble. I don't have the space for IKEA so wanted one unit I can roll away when we have visitors. the drawers seem very sturdy, don't tip out but come out easily with a wiggle. If you are anywhere near you are welcome to drop in and see them or a craft shop I know near uses them so one near you may well do.
Seem to have waffled but I hope that helps.

I have furniture from both places and a couple of other places too. From Ikea I have the large Expedit and a cupboard which houses a tall wire cardstock holder in one half, the other half is filled with shelves. A lot of the rest (excluding 3 Making Memories shelf units and another shelf unit) is from Storage 4 Crafts.

I wanted the Expedit for space of large cubes (unfortunately they don't sell the boxes/baskets to fit on-line). At Storage 4 Crafts I got the units with shelves for cardstock or paper but replaced the shelves with draws as I put my cardstock in the wire unit and paper in Cropper Hopper holders. I also got my desk from Storage 4 Crafts (the top was sold separately from 2 units that hold it up each end),a rolling cart and storage trolley by Cropper Hopper.

The draws/shelves from Storage 4 Crafts are white and sturdy, in my opinion not cheap looking at all.

Have fun with whatever you decide

I have the large expedit and a smaller one from Ikea and also the tuckaway station for my cricut which is here on my blog

I found both easy to build on my own. I had a missing part with my tuckaway and they were so responsive and friendly to deal with as well as answering all my questions before I ordered. I like the customer support at storage4crafts which is excellent plus they are sponsors.

The storage 4 crafts Best units are very easy to put together, sturdy, drawers are thick plastic and very sturdy, they do not twist with unsupported. I don't have the Expedit from Ikea but do have the Besta units, I have found that the finish can chip quite easily. Don't think they were too hard to put together but a couple of times, where DH has tightened the fixings, the particle board has not withstood th pressure! hope this helps

The storage 4 crafts stacker with 1" drawers is absolutely THE best storage I have found for rubber stamps. I ended up getting 15 x 1" drawers and 2 x 2" as some of my stamps were a non standard depth. Not the cheapest option, but it swallowed most of my stamp collection (I have a LOT)

Oooh interesting thread as I've set my heart on a triple stacker from Storage4Crafts for my craft room - but am also planning to get an Expedit as well! I already have Ikea desks in there but badly need to get storage sorted.

I've only used the Storage 4 Crafts units, and the RUB units with drawers; they've been pretty easy to put together. I really wish they'd been around when I originally set up my craft room - I used a selection of kitchen units which were all I could find at the time.

I have both the Expedit cube storage and the Storage 4 Crafts desk, in an ideal world the drawers should fit the ikea cubes LOL They are both great and used in diffrent ways Ikea for big things like sizzix machine, BIA etc and the S4C for small stuff ink stamps tape etc so it will depend on how you would use them realy as to what will suit.

    just re read your questions

there is a load of space under the S4C desk even behiind the drawers thats where i store my 5 sizzix storage towers and a tool/tote trolly in the middle of the h=gap and there is lenty room left for leg room.

I have the storage for crafts 'best craft organizer desk, hutch and double stacker' and no joke I have fitted everything I own in it, I used to have a scrap room but dont now so this sits neatly in the lounge and is fab. It is alot of dollar but since I got it I have done so much more creating. also in the drawers, you can configure them, different sizes, inserts for brads or ribbons etc

What other providers would you recommend as a viable alternative for all kinds of delicate storage and transportation needs?
