    fat cards

I've just made some Mother's Day cards which are a bit fat owing to the presence of flowers in a 3D vase on the front. Can anyone give me some tips, or even a template, for making an expanding envelope? The cards are tall slim ones; I can probably find a spare envelope to take apart for a basic template, and add to it - but how? In which direction? Do I insert a gusset (ooh, matron) or put pleats in it?

    Help, please!

Not sure about an expanding envelope but it's really easy to make boxes from cardstock with a scoring tool. Make sure the 'lid' piece before scoring is 2-3mm larger than the 'base' piece and it should fit fine

Give me a shout if you need any help with it.

Decide how much you need extra as a gusset....

and cut stripe that are the right width...

cut around the edge of the envelope and gentle tease each flap apart...

With sticky tape add the gusset and restick each flap back to the envelope..

you will now have a flap template with a gusset included... gusset is shown as pink..

Never tried making a gusset in envelope
I find it easier just to make a box
