I haven't tried the promarkers but went for the copics because of the brush tip. I love them

I tried promarkers but found it hard to shade with them so sold them and am now converted to copics. I love them

When you say you have "looked at" both, have you actually used both?

I think that pens like this really need to be tried out to see which you prefer yourself. By asking what other people prefer, you will naturally get a difference of opinion, as you can see above.

When it boils down to it, I'd say that the only real difference between them is the type of nib that comes as standard with each make. Now that Letraset have increased the range of Promarker colours, there is less between them than there may have been a few months ago.

If there isn't anywhere you can go locally to lay your hands on them in real life, why not buy a couple of each type to trial them. Then you can be more sure which feels better in your hands before buying a large number of one brand and then deciding that you'd rather have the other brand after all.

Started with pro markers then moved to copic I find copic better to use.

The only thing different is the nib

Same here! I prefer the brush nib of Copics too. Slowly building up my collection of it.

You can do some techniques with copics that you can't promarkers, tipping being the most useful.

I do prefer the ivory promarker for skin and promarker reds are more of a true red than copics.

I am lucky enough to be the proud owner of a complete set of both.

I started with the Copics and recently completed my set of Promarkers.

I find it easier to shade large ares with the Copics - it might just be me but I find the hard bullet tip of the Pros difficult for this and the chisel end is often too big. The Pros are better for fine detailing and I have used them a lot on my smaller detailed stamped images.

Do have a 'play' with both types as it really is a matter of personal choice.

I'm using a mixture of both at the moment. I prefer the harder nib of the promarker but the brush tip is easier for getting into small bits. I also find that the copic blender does a better job of removing mistakes than the promarker one does.

I've also noticed that some colours are better than others. The copics do a great range of olive tones but I love promarker grass green and olive green for Christmas greens.

Playingwpaper which red shade do you use? Finding red the one colour that is difficult to get red - especially when it comes to finding a matching shade to use for the toning.

I tend to use carmine, poppy and berry red the most and build up the colour rather than blending two, but I have been known to put orange down first where I need the deepest shading.

I have promarkers and love them.

Can you mix and match within the same project? I see some people use both. Doers that mean for some projects you use copics and others promarkers or can use them both at the same time?

I use both on the same project sniggle. It's rare that I blend the brands in the same spot as it's easier to go by copics numbering to get the right 2 shades than test blending. I've even been known to use polychromos, marvys, sakuras and water colours with them.
