Paint for Chipboard??
Hi
Can anyone recommend the best paints to buy for painting bare naked chipboard with. Any advice greatly appreciated.

i love the adirondack paint dabbers, excellent coverage, quick and easy no mess and no washing paintbrushes!

Hi Ali,
Acrylic paint is your best bet and we have a range HERE and also the Paint Dabbers HERE as well. If you want to get a crackle paint finish then we also have the Crackle Paint HERE as well. I personally always use a watered down base coat or some primer before using a colour so that you get a true colour match but I'm sure lots of others dont so it will be down to personal choice.
Have fun though - its great getting messy!!!

What have we here Watson?
Hi there Alison depending on how much you want to spend there are a number of paints that you can use.
Acrylic paint will probably be your cheapest option and there is a huge range of colours available before you even start thinking about mixing. I would suggest thinning a little with water to make it easier to apply but don't make your chipboard too wet - it might curl.
The paint dabbers are great and as a previous post points out...no brushes to wash. Can be a bit of a problem if you have very detailed chipboard pieces to paint as you might not be able to cover all the edges easily.
The Tim Holtz crackle & distressed paint ranges can give you some good finishes but are obviously a bit dearer.
Hope that helps a bit

Acrylic paint for me too, but you can get varying quality. The more expensive the paint, the more 'pigment' it has to it, therefore a 'stronger' colour. If you use a cheaper paint, then just do more coats !
Once the paint has dried, you can do lots of other things to it as well ...

My Guest Designer Tracy used a metallic paint dabber on this chipboard birdcage and she said it covered a treat!
Also the Ranger Distress Crackle paints would work well on chipboard too,

So have I, many a time. good value the little £1.99 tester pots in Homebase or B & Q especially if you're painting mini books. I have got some dabbers, I just take the top off and use a cosmetic buds to do the awkward bits.
