    Layered Cards

Here is the base card which needs decorating. The challenge is to see how you lovely ladies (and gents) would do that.

Other peoples files cannot be sold by you.

    Layered Cards

Monthly Challenge came about, just at the right time. For me crafting is like writer's block, the Challenge push started the inspiration flowing, to get me over my crafting block.

I have to say that I had a few problems with the cutting of the lift up petals. It was fine when I tested the pattern out with a pen beforehand, but when I came to cutting it out, the stuttering meant that each petal group took 5 mins to cut. I looked for help and found a thread that said I should reduce the node count, this improved the speed of the cutting by 60%! It still stutters at the top of the heart though, but as you can see it cuts well.

    Layered Butterfly Circle Topper

Another 3 layered topper, this time designed to use the pen option to write the greeting on the top layer. It could of course be left blank ready to rubber stamp and heat emboss or add your own cut out text, peel off greeting etc.

The black layer cut well from paper but care was needed lifting it from the carrier sheet, and I bent a couple of the antennae whilst removing the ‘confetti’ from the wing patterns, but then, I am a bit heavy handed at times. I would recommend using thinnish card (approx. 180gsm) as this gave me the best results

Hope it is useful to someone.

    test

I have just finsihed this and thought you would like it. I hope all of you have tools to pick out the holes It's taken me ages to do it and I have bits everywhere on the floor.
I think it looks quite fancy and won't need much decoration.
    Personal use only please.

    Shell Edged Layer Card

I've never done a challenge before, so I thought it was about time. This is just a simple edged card using the free ding 'caslon ornaments'.

Rectangular scalloped topper + base card

This is a bit of a variation on the square scalloped topper. I've added some ribbon slots and shapes, decorated with beads and good old mulberry flowers - I was quite pleased with the end result. Designed in DM and converted via the PDF method. I have included the outline shapes in with the base card.

extra search words - ribbon, threading

    Studio cameo

This is the first card I've designed in the silhouette software. There are three mats - the larger was made with the uppper case letter M - object to path, the 2nd is made with upper case letter O - object to path and the 3rd is simply an oval which I have embossed. The cameo is from the font DBL Faces from the Past which I have had to "edit" to get a good cutting file. I used the knife tool to make the text into a stencil (love that tool!). It took me a long time to get it looking reasonable but I was pleased with the end result. The mats and cameo will need to be moved to the side before cutting the base card.

I have used two colours for the mats but they don't need to be cut separately. When cutting a "lining" mat in a contrasting colour to put underneath the mat it is possible to choose the "cut outline only" option in the cutline settings.

For the mats I have used Conqueror Concept 160 gsm card and the base card is 220 gsm. I always use an insert to give the card a bit more substance
