I've done it a million times but....

I have just created a monogram in a frame, which cuts lovely, but what I am trying to attempt is not working... it is cutting as a topper whilst i want it as a cut out on a card?

I am using inkscape, I had created the monogram then I selected the rectangle for the shape of the card and filled black, then I added the monogram, what comes next?

I have done this a million times but mind has gone totally blank.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I drew the frame and object to path, path exclusion then I added the object and then object to path and path union, I know I have to get rid of the outer part of the frame, I just cannot remember how?

If you want to stencil cut into the card you don't need the frame.
