I was just wondering if there is anyone on here from Elgin? We are moving there in April and am dreading not knowing anyone!!LOL!

I lived in Gib for 4 years, my youngest was born out there, and we moved up here in 2004 It's a beautiful part of the world, although not quite so tropical as Gibraltar

And I will vouch for Mrs Mac's shop being the best in the area

It is a nice place - we are now looking to buy and stay here. If you have kids its a fab place to bring them up.

DH was on SAR for 18 years and after a short stint down south (I stayed here) he si now at Kinloss. Think he only has about 3 weeks of actual work left - but I'm not complaining after 23 years.

I had a cousin who lived in Elgin - I used to visit lots - its a beautiful place. Loved the beach and as for the lighthouse - well its one of my favourites!

As a visitor I was always made very welcome and I am sure you will be too. I think it would be a great place to live - I hope you are very happy there.

One moan I have to make about Elgin is the bookshops are absolutely rubbish for scrapbooking books. I haven't been in Yeadons since the refit but that was the only shop that had at least 2 books the other 2 shops (big name chains too) had none - shocking!!
