    attaching ribbon

    Hi

How does everyone attach ribbon to their LO's? The reason for the question is that I have some very nice blue ribbon that is 3mm and I would love to attach it to a LO I'm designing but I'm not sure how to do it on something so small

    Thank you

depends on the type of ribbon.....

I have some special ribbon glue that I've not tried

For gross grain types I generally use regular PVA glue, as it doesn't show through like it does with satins

For satins I use a narrow DSST, or just attach at the ends with brads. Some people use staples, and I've even seen it stitched on in the past

Or -- and this is a popular one, so can't believe I forgot to mention it -- I put it through my Xyron 150 to turn it into 'sticky ribbon'

Brads, eyelets, glue stick are what I use most often

I have glued it only on the "back" of the page, as well.

To make a feature of thinner ribbon I love to wrap it around something, maybe a piece of chipboard or a photo matt. You could also tie it round letters in your title or use it to hang embellishments from, tying them in a bow and then fixing them to your LO with a brad through the center of your bow. I always try and adhere mine to the back of a LO or bit of card etc on my LO. If you apply adhesive all over the back it's really difficult to keep it straight so I find it much easier to apply adhesive on one end then pull to the opposite end and then stick down if you want straight ribbon. Staples are really handy for quick fixing ribbon too. You can buy decorative staples or you can colour plain ones with permanent markers before you staple them or gel pens once they're stapled down.

I use Herma, put it on the back of the ribbon or I put it on the LO where I want the ribbon (well, on my LO's it's usually ric-rac) to go. I often use staples on the ends as well

Usually put it through my Xyron 150 (several strips at a time 'cause I'm stingy and don't like to waste a whole strip of Xyron for a 3mm ribbon LOL!) then run down the sides with a pencil before I take the clear film off

If I want it suck down I use my Xyron 150, like Eileen, a couple of pieces together. I also use brads and staples quite a bit.

I use very narrow DSST as a rule, but I've also used brads, ribbon slides, buttons, staples, Fastenator bars, the list goes on.

I got some really good stuff especially for sticking ribbon from Lakeland. You press the ribbon down onto a sticky sheet and it coats it with glue, then just stick the ribbon where you want - its really quick and easy to use.

I tend to use hermi to stick all mine down. Works a treat.
