Cricut - will it cut through Chipboard

I don't have one personally but we have one at work and one of the ladies there has been telling customers when demoing it that it will cut thro chipboard - can anyone tell me if this is right as she seems to think that she is and I don't want to misinform people or break it by trying to cut chipboard when it won't!

    thanks

    Hi,

The Expression has a double cut function that as it says cuts in the same position twice. This makes cutting quite thick chipboard very easy. To be honest I haven't tried cutting chipboard on the little Cricut but I have cut laminated mirror card so a good enough blade and mat should manage lower grade chipboards.

As a general rule it won't cut chipboard (the ordinary machine NOT the expression) I have found it has difficulty with some good quality CS!

Thanks for this - did not want to end up in the position where a customer brought something back cause we had told them it would do something it does not!

    Hi there,

The cricut will cut Chipboard, I have tried it.

    Here's what you do

Place chipboard on mat, ensure that the chipboard is STUCK firmly.

    Load mat

    chose your design

    Press cut

When it has finished cutting press RELOAD ( Do not press unload)

Then press repeat last and then cut.

Do this as many times as you think you need to.

Word of warning it will only do this accurately if the first cut is at the top of the mat IYKWIM.

    Hope this helps

    Barbara.

When it says chipboard, does it mean the back of a note pad thickness or mountboard?

I doubt it would cope with mountboard, that seems tougher than grey chipboard.

I used the back of a note pad, I don't think Mountboard would go through the Cricut.
