Less is more, unless more is more!
You can do that but then it's a bit too difficult to remove the shapes/letters from the mat, especially if they're small or skinny. Spray Mount is not acid free (at least it's not mentioned on the can) but if it doesn't come into contact with the photos that's not a problem. There is a 3M Photo Mount spray, which may be acid free but don't think it's repositionable.

Gisselle, that's the one I'm using, I seem to remember it was quite expensive. I've found that it's Ok if I just spray very lightly, the letters are slightly tacky and it works just fine

I was amazed how expensive it was, it wasn't the photo mount, just normela repo!! A small tin (well smaller than the large ) was about the same price as a pack of 2 mats!! So i did wonder if I would be better off getting more mats!?!?!
Does it last a long time, ie does a can last longer than a mat do you think? I've been using my mats since November and one is not very sticky now the other 2 are just right

Everyday is a Gift - that's why it's called the present
You can also buy something called "wacky stuff" it comes in a glue stick like pritt - then you just rub it on the mat and hey presto it is sticky again. Not sure if any sponsors sell it? I know of a non-spomsor who does if you want to pm me.

If you spray your mats with repo spray, make sure you mask down the sides of the mat so that the wheels on the cricut to not get gunky, that would then invalidate your warranty. Mask the edges with sellotape or masking tape, spray your mat lightly from about 12 inches, then leave for about 12 hours, it is not so sticky as using it immediately and works just fine. I spray mine when I have finished working at night, then they are fine for the next day. They last about a week before I need to respray. Another idea is buy a lint roller and roll it over your mat, this takes off fluff and bits of cardboard or paper that is left after you have removed your cuts.
I am not sure it is acid free, but if it is photo mount then I suppose it must be.
Hope this helps someone.

i bought the tool kit and found the scrapper is very good at cleaning the mat. It even removed glitter from glitter card. i then wiped it gently with a cheap alcohol free baby wipe and let it air dry over night. My mat was perfect the next day.

Sorry - but I'm not sure how these things work. But that image is hosted by a friends account on Photobucket - she very kindly converted it for me from the Cricut website. And I'm not sure if her Photobucket account details should be made public on here? I don't mean to be rude, please don't think that
